Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been using the Q5ii emmc for the last 3-4 years. Just got a new Q30. Maybe someone can help me with the following.

- I'm connected via ethernet so I usually turn off the wifi on the box (as recommended in the manual). With the Q30, when I switch off the box for the night and turn it on again the next morning, the wifi turns itself on automatically. Is there a way to keep the wifi off? The Q5ii wifi stayed off even when the box is switched off and on again.

- The Q30 came preinstalled with FB, Skype and Kodi (among others). I uninstalled them but they reinstalled themselves immediately after. Is there a way to permanently uninstall them? Without rooting.

Thanks.

q5ii emmc was good, wasn't it?
is it still working?

your choice of a new box...
how did u come to the decision to buy q30?
where did u buy it, price?
this box is a cost reduced version of the Q5pro.
very much the same except the box casing... same hisilicon chipset 2/8gb, android7, similar firmware.
only thing that may be less good is this model is not being sold widely.
which means support and firmware updates may not as good as q5pro or q10pro.

your questions...
.. yes, it auto connects wifi as well... i think it is firmware feature, need manual disable; but no worry, ethernet takes precedence over wifi.
.. no, u cannot remove those apps - embedded in firmware... these are requested by the major distributor(s) in europe.

Thanks for replying.

The Q5ii emmc was a great box. I have two, both still running fine. Because of its low ram/rom, I run minimal apps on it and uninstalled those that I didn't need. Clearing cache and unnecessary data often helps. Terrarium TV still works very well on it until now.

My decision to get the Q30? I'm a retired uncle with a budget biggrin.gif
I got it on Lazada at RM351 (RM371 with a RM20 discount code). Local seller, fast delivery. The Q5 Pro was marked at RM 469 at the time.

The Q30 has a scaled down SoC vs the the Q5 Pro (Hi3798M vs Hi3798C), Don't know the real difference though. It also has a lower spec GPU against the Q5 Pro from what I read (Mali 450 vs Mali 720) but I don't mind. Also, I only use a 2.1 soundbar so am not too particular about the audio capabilities.

Yeah, looks like I may be the only Q30 user around but no worries smile.gif As for firmware, I updated it when I got the box, It's now on 2.0.4 20170517. The OTA function works great. Himediatech has released a latest FW 2.0.5 dated 11 Oct 2017 but I'm gonna wait a while.

All other functions are similar to Q5/Q10 Pro so I hope to learn from users of these 2 boxes.

Cheers

From Android 6 onwards, there is the feature to format the external SD card as internal storage. Just wanted to check, has any Q5/Q10 pro users been able to do this?
