i m using HD600B with a Seagate 2TB HDD inside.

i been getting this problem for some time now.  Some of my movie files will be corrupted.  For instance, i can still see the size of a movie file over 4GB but when i player, its only 1min30sec.  Its not something tat happen recently but yesteray when i check all my movie file, almost 20 over files was corrupted.

i was running FW 1.0.4.21 and just updated to 1.0.7.28 just a few hours ago.  i will give this player one last chance.  some months back, the player even corrput the whole HDD.  i have to plug it out and use a PC to repair it.

anyone have issue with the Himedia corrupting movie file or HDD?

The latest custom fw will be 1.0.9.5
https://1073-max.googlecode.com/files/install.1.0.9.5.zip

Enable the safe shutdown/power off in the setting will protect your hdd.

Custom firmware installation guide:
1) Turn off HD600A/B, and remove all HDDs, USB devices and network.

2) Download the firmware, unrar it into the root of USB disk, and rename the HD600_1.0.x.x.img file to install.img. Windows may only show HD600_1.0.x.x without img extension. In that case, please just rename HD600_1.0.x.x to install

3) Remove all storage devices from HD600A/B, connect the USB disk to HD600A/B, press and hold the Restore button in the hole besides the HDMI port, turn on HD600A/B(still hold the Restore button and release it after 5 seconds) and the firmware upgrade screen will shows up. Do NOT remove the USB disk while upgrading.

4)The unit will reboot itself after it shows upgrade finished message

QUOTE(agewisdom @ Oct 22 2013, 08:38 PM)
I recently bought a HiMedia 600A. After using it for about an hour or two, it starts showing the following symptoms:

1. A normal RMVB or AVI file that runs perfectly fine before will stop running. There is a message "I/O error". The media player stops running the movie and I'm back to the home screen.

2. At the home screen, trying to go back to play the same movie still shows the "I/O error". This was the same movie that played like normal earlier on.

3. Switching it off about and hour. Then switch on the media player and the same RMVB or AVI file will run like normal again.

4. It's not a problem with the hard disks since I used two pendrives and one portable hard disk and the same problem still persist. Playing the pendrives and portable hard disk on my old HiMedia 600F, I can watch them without any problems whatsoever.

Any idea what's the problem? I used to have an old HiMedia 600F and I never ever faced this problem before.

Thanks.

1.0.9.5 firmware problem.

You can try flash custom firmware
1.0.7.28 (I was using this for quite a long time, no I/O error)
https://1073-max.googlecode.com/files/install.1.0.7.28.zip

or

1.0.8.14 (I never tried this before, the creator said it might have some issue with LG TV)
https://1073-max.googlecode.com/files/install.1.0.8.14.zip

or

I'm now testing this 1.0.8.14 (some IMS updated compared to the 2 above, latest custom firmware to-date)
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1bn9tVrD

How to install custom firmware:
1. Turn off HD600A/B, and remove all HDDs, USB devices and network.

2. Download the firmware, unrar it into the root of USB disk, and rename the HD600_1.0.x.x.img file to install.img. Windows may only show HD600_1.0.x.x without img extension. In that case, please just rename HD600_1.0.x.x to install

3. Remove all storage devices from HD600A/B, connect the USB disk to HD600A/B, press and hold the Restore button in the hole besides the HDMI port, turn on HD600A/B(still hold the Restore button and release it after 5 seconds) and the firmware upgrade screen will shows up. Do NOT remove the USB disk while upgrading.

4. The unit will reboot itself after it shows upgrade finished message

*the firmware is for realtek 1185 based hd600 series player, not for android based hd600*

Thanks for the advice. I actually went and claimed warranty on it and the new unit works perfectly fine. Probably a hardware issue or perhaps needs to be fixed via a firmware as you suggested biggrin.gif

Good to hear that. Have you ever flashed to custom firmware? I flashed it since the day I bought my player biggrin.gif

Well, the custom firmware offers few extra features like IMS, web browser based remote control, ftp, transmission, etc....
