Guys, i kinda lazy to read through all the 15 pages. Previously i saw the Asus N53SN, and i was going to purchase that, but after days of delay due to no stock, i somehow stumbled upon Pavilion dv6-6001TX and after few research. It seems that the graphic card is at least 16% stronger than the Asus, almost similar prices, less problem.

But the main problem was due to Heat problem, am i right? Any summarized review etc? Recommended etc?

@joonwei23: Of course, some people like me consider Norton to be a virus in and of itself.

@imryan: HP has always been known for heat problem and the dv6 has its heat issues. However, unlike older HP models, the dv6's heat problem seems to be only limited to somewhat uncomfortable temperatures under your left hand during heavy use.

It seems to have better cooling for the CPU and GPU than the N53SN, hitting an average max temp of about 86 Celsius when gaming (my tests were with Crysis 2's intro level and Mass Effect's Eden Prime mission, both at 1366 x 768 res and the highest graphics settings available in menu), and it will immediately drop to around 60 C after you tab away or quit the game. Idle temperatures average about 48 C and tend to max at about 52 C without cooler.

For comparison, N53SN users regularly worry about going above 90 C under gaming loads. Idle temperatures are comparable.

I had put up a test report a few pages back. Hope it helps.

Think positive. The left palmrest heats up when i start gaming because its warming up my left hand so i can kill faster. *strafe* *strafe* *boomheadshot* tongue.gif

2 days ago i play Assasin Creed Brotherhood whole afternoon for 6 hours. I tot the temp surely will be over 90c but after i finish hwmonitor only show 87c on 1 of the core. thumbup.gif

i had the same problem on my 2 years old Compaq laptop on random occasion, i sent back to HP for warranty then they changed the motherboard for me, they even detected the HDD got problem then changed it for me too.

it may be due to the RAM stick was not properly plugged in, even such incident happens on desktop, the PC cannot boot

Symptom 3: LEDs glow, fan noise may be heard briefly, display remains black, and
computer fails to startup or boot

Usually occurs if a component is installed incorrectly, or there is a device conflict or failure.
 Connect an external monitor to check if the problem is the built-in LCD display or graphics
card.
 Remove all CD/DVDs, SD cards, USB devices, peripherals and do a Hard Reset.
 If memory or hard drive components were replaced, reinstall original components.
 Remove memory modules and replace one-at-a-time.
 Remove and reseat hard drive.
 If possible, turn on power, press F10 to enter BIOS mode, and run Memory Test and
Hard Drive Test.
 On newer notebooks, turn on power, press Esc to enter UEFI mode, and run Memory
Test and Hard Drive Test.
 If possible, turn on power, press F8 to enter Windows Advanced Boot Options, and
select Repair Computer option, or enter Safe Mode and run Memory Diagnostics.
 If all other methods fail, but computer can boot to BIOS, use recovery disk to recover
the computer to original condition.
Note: All programs and data are destroyed during recovery.

hmm..possible coming from ram..as the latest component installed rclxub.gif
