128-bit...

It's a theme. Switchable GPU means you may switch your GPU to whether Intel or AMD one to suit your needs, example like if you only do some web browsing which you don't do any intensive work which requires the use of GPU then you may switch to Intel in order to save battery life, and vice versa. HD6770 is running with 128bits.

so is this laptop auto switching? or i need to switch manually?

erm if this graphic card running on 128bits then what so special about it? i think no difference with GT550M or GT555M rite? the speed is base on bits rite? base on what i know la. haha.

and i cant find a link which compare this graphic card FPS with other graphic cards.

@Vox: You have to switch manually. It's actually quite simply done: right-click and choose your graphics card. However, there is no indicator that tells you which card is currently active.

As for comparisons with other graphics cars, I would point you to notebookcheck.net, but apparently a lot of people here don't trust that site's ranking of graphics cards. It's still pretty comprehensive, though and should give you a rough idea of where the dv6's card stands in relation to the nVidia GT555M

i'm using this website to check. but base on the ranking this 6770M is even lower than Nvidia GT555M. how come?
and also in this website theres no 6770M check on fps for each game. thats why i m asking for other website.

both running on 128 bits also. so in terms of playing high graphics games there is big differences?

To be honest, I don't know yet. I haven't found time to run a Crysis 2 benchmark for this, which should give enough info to compare the two in terms of real world frames-per-second performance.

Whatever it is, the dv6's Radeon 6770M is probably the most powerful available in the Malaysian market, because I haven't seen any other notebooks around with a GT 555M.

6770m is the only gpu below gtx 460m/5870m/5850m

as 5850m/5870m are eol so only gpu above 6770m is gtx 460m

But the score for GT555M is better than the 6770M

becos i saw people saying that it beats the GT555M.

Depends on you, really. My eyes quite happily accept 15-16 fps as perfectly playable. Some people can't live with an fps below 60.

Well, its not like you can find GT555M within HP DV6's price range..

Actually there is.. If u on HD6770M u can see the Control Center icon on the traybar.

I don't really trust notebookcheck rankings but their huge database make it convenient to check on sometimes.

There is no fps for each game for 6770M on NBC site because they didn't test it yet on the game? U can trust on the scores but not on the rankings there.

I find 30fps is more than enuff and 20fps is still playable.

for gt 555m vs 6770m

there is also a thread in NBR

6770m clearly beats gt 555m by a margin in 3dmark 11, vantage and many games

but some games are better optimized for nvdia some are for amd.

i am pretty sure gt 550m in dirt 2 crysis 2 will beat 6770m but games like avp or crysis warhead other amd optimized games will beat gt 555m

so better make a judgemtn for the synthetic results which are 3dmark 11, vantage, tessmark,unigine etc.
