There's a new firmware released for D7000 and I have not updated mine. I had read the procedures and in summary:

1. Format the MC in camera.
2. Download, extract and copy the firmware into root directory of the MC.
3. Insert the MC into camera and update the firmware.
4. Format the MC in camera and it's ready to shoot again.

I'm wondering, would the image count (image numbering and not shutter count) gets reset when the MC is formatted or the firmware is updated? How about the existing setting of the camera? Would it be overwritten and refreshed therefore need to re-do the settings?
