Wait a second, what I am asking is purely from a technical point of view. Like some said CPU won't affect game except SC2, but in fact some M17x r3 users in NBR benchmark their 6990m, the one with higher cpu(2820qm) are really getting better vantage score. Thus I am getting confuse again.

I am not trying to act like professional. All those written are reading from both Lowyat and NBR forum for the past 2 months after I decided to get a gaming notebook.

Actually I also regret to ask those question in this thread and putting u name on it. (I will edit my initial post with your name remove, I think it is better, if not it looks like I try to attack u, this is not my intention.) What I really asking in the very post first is "why no refurbish system with 6990m ?" Then u told me because nvidia is better? This make me more confuse, so I posted out what I read and after thought in those forum.

Why suddenly rich become a famous word. haha.. I never say I am rich or anything. And I NEVER say buying refurbish is bad. What I dun understand is, why ppl dun wait a little bit longer, save up $$, to get a better graphic card. After all they are buying a very expensive high end laptop.

When I asked ppl for opinion for graphic card in NBR, 9 out of 10 told me to get a better one,  since upgrading in future is expensive and troublesome.

I am not rich, of coz I have to lowball.. hehe.. Dell online price is ridiculous high. You reseller in lowyat are giving a MUCH BETTER price. Of coz, it is better to deal with u guys. I am not crazy or stupid to throw away $$ like this.

When did I blame other, they may not get it because the better card was not out yet when they purchased their machine or some other reasons.

But seriously, isn't it a forum for people to ask what they want to know except personal attack. So only ppl already purchase alienware can talk here and no other?

GTX580 and HD6990 not alot in malaysia still is due to budget lik u. but they still better den you cos still able to buy new from dell with tide budget, so hd6970 is their choose. they believe both using same core and jus need some overclock den can meet same with hd6990.

Desktop may be Nvidia strength, but we are in the laptop territory now. With the price/performance, Amd should have the upper hand.

I am actually waiting for the benthmark of their amd 6990m comparing to alienware's. But time is running out. Hopefully, result can be seen before the end of this month. Purchasing soon.

Battle between nvidia and amd is very true, they even locked thread discussing it. I already tried to say it in a nicer tone. According to some pp, Amd 6990m vs gtx 580m is 90:10. And they name them as rebels. lol

Let's change the object of purchase to drumstick chicken rice and normal chicken rice. Why ppl don't want to eat smoother meat because of difference by RM1-1.50?

Regarding the CPU, Casperato is the first one telling me that lesser CPU will throttle the game performance. I don't think it will create problem for anyone if I want to find out the truth?

I don't  have amd 6970m, I dun even have a laptop yet. lol
But I am gonna purchase soon, probably on the 28th of August and receive it on end of sept.

I got a pretty good deal on m17x r3 with 6990m. I don't think i am gonna miss this. Even if the 7000s come out, it will be extremely expensive, not worth it. And further more, it is still unknown when is the release date.

Regarding the refurbish unit, it is because casperito got a very good price for his laptop. So I asked his dell seller for another good priced lappy. But I dun see anything coming out with 6990m in the past 2 week in lowyat forum. I know the chance is pretty slim.

On the same time I got another very good offer with new lappy 6990m and real cheap from dell direct. Although it is a bit more troublesome and need to wait longer time to receive. But it is safe and the warranty is asian region. So I just checked out how come they dun sell high spec machine in lowyat. (busy body )  As you can see. it lead to a mess..lol

The only thing I really miss is Mr. doctre 3 yr warranty offer, I could not get it since I don't have the service tag yet and it is due by 22 of Ausgust.
IF not, I can have best of both worlds. hahah...

But seriously, ppl with 2820qm is really having higher vantage score in the benchmark than 2720qm although both having 6990m.
May be up to cetain extend.. this theory will hold its ground. But the price of 300 to 400 US upgrade doesn't justify its performance.
In Malaysia and Singapore dell, the 2820qm is a standard spec. But its starting price is pretty high and further more no coupon.
If u let me choose between 2820qm or amd 6990m, I will definitely grab 6990m, It is a no brainer.
