Uh.. there's no way a mp3 recording or digital recording can be any better than a original properly recorded CD. Especially those from the Eagles and all. It'll be good, but not as good.

The player.

What car are you driving? A simple component upgrade in a Myvi with the right door panels can do wonders for your sound. My Myvi iss doing that right now with the stock player. Recently added a underseat woofer to add to the punch. It's no match for a full on amp + Hu + sub setup but it's bloody good in its own right and price!

Hey I've got a question about sound deadening. I've heard that Autofoam is only effective for old cars with weaker chassis? Is that true?

Also, for wind noise, tyre noise, engine noise etc, what are the methods to reduce the noise for each case? Or is there a single method that will reduce noises from many sources?

Thanks!
*
Autofoam is used to fill hollow bits of your chassis. It doesn't matter if your car is old or new.

Several installers have their own methods to reduce noise. Not all are the same but many are similar. Ask Howiechoo for a quote.

If I change my saga HU, can i still use the audio switch at steering wheel??

What should I upgrade first from stock saga fl sound system?
How much does entry level HU and component speaker usually cost?
*
Depends. Some aftermarket HUs come with a controller unit that can hook up with your steering control and that'll let it work. Most don't.

Entry level HU can cost 200++ but usually mid-level is recommended RM900 to RM1800. Good component speakers can cost anything between RM500 to RM3000. All depends on what it is you want.

i wanna change my vios HU. I looking for single din HU with USB port which can play mp3 & few preset equalizer audio band. Prefer front facing usb port Which model does have this features. Between pioneer and alpine, which HU is better quality & less problem. Budget around rm550 n below
*
Brands are all the same - especially pioneer and alpine, but are good quality and the newer models are pretty much problem free. But they don't sound the same so you'll have to decide on the type of sound you want.

If I'm not mistaken that Pioneer is kinda old.

But for that range - I think they all sound the same. It's up to you which one you want. If you're willing to increase your budget then there's more models you can think about, some will probably sound better too.

any commend?

Contrary to what the others say, I personally think the 10 speaker Bose found on some luxury cars pretty damn good. But you gotta remember these super expensive cars have super expensive sound proofing and research done on to get the perfect sound via specially angled body panels, materials, specially made glass, etc. On a normal car it might not produce the same kind of sound.

I personally only like the Focal K2P and Utopia series. Everything else is too harsh for my ears.

You might want to try other models since you've got a decent budget.

Personally I found the midbass lacking for the darkblue, but I was comparing with the way more expensive Dynaudios.

The entry level Rainbows would suite your music taste. I'm not sure about Dominations, perhaps Howie or someone else could suggest something.

A sub would always compliment your music. Just a matter of how much you can stretch your budget. Since you're driving such a spacious car, you should opt for the standalone sub with a box and a monoblock/amp.

1 x component set
1 x multichannel (4-channel is ideal) amp
1 x sub.

In terms of sub, the kind of music you listen to, a cheap Helix DarkBlue will suffice. Amp wise will depend on your components.

hi gurus,

i really need an advice,
as i mention above, currently i only have a Alpine IVA-W520E HU with my stock speakers. I would like to upgrade my ICE, but i'm a newbie (don't know anything about ICE).
I went to an audio shop just now. Below is what they offered me ..

1 Eton 2 ways Component speaker (don't know which speaker).
1 sound magus 4 channels AMP with EQ, processor (it's made in china).
2 stinger RCA cable, fuse box, cross over ... and so on to play active setup as he said.
he quote me:RM3600 (including installation+tuning).

it's ok to play with this setup & upgrade another AMP+Sub in future??
*
honestly - go around and get a few quotes first. Then stick with the one with the best service because service is what you'll want when you get it installed. Most of the time similarly ranged speakers won't be too far off in terms of sound (except for the high end stuff la) so Eton, Focal, or whatever brands at this range will be more or less 'good'. I've never heard of Sound Magus though....

Personally I think the price quoted here is a tad on the high side.

Sifus,

Currently using a GM5400-T amp (380W RMS @ 4ohms bridged) paired with a 300W RMS sub. I'm planning to upgrade my sub to a 400W RMS sub. Using vented enclosure.

Would the 100W difference be noticeable?
Do I need to readjust my amp's gain? Or I can just change the sub with ease?
*
Noticeable only if you know what 400w sounds like lor. Otherwise you're just underutilizing the sub. No big deal la.

I see. How about the gains? No need disturb? Just PnP the new sub?
*
Should be a simple plug and play. But try adjusting the gain and see how it affects the sound. Like it then increase it, don't like it put it back to what it was. But generally try not to overdose on the gain. I think the recommendation was no more than 70% maximum gain? I dunno. My gains are usually rarely over 50%

Dear sifus,

I've recently saved up some money and decided I really need to have my car sound system changed as I spend most of my time driving.

I've got a budget of around RM1500
I'm looking to spend this one time to get a decent sound system which can last me for many years. Any good recommendations?
*
Last for many years - Probably better if you save up sommore and get RM3000 at least.

Last you for now - I think around RM2100 can get you a front component, amp and a sub.

hurmm....but it may be hard to save up somemore for a big amount..

if the budget is rm1500 just for HU and component...what is the best? can anyone suggest me?

i got some offer from a shop for a pioneer 7250sd + JBL component set = rm1350...

is it worth it? or it is expensive? i would like to go for SQ...n i play various type of music and i like mid level bass..

so anyone can help me?

Thanks smile.gif  icon_question.gif

Personally I think that combination might be a little too bright sounding. What car are you driving? I suggest with the budget get a good set of components and a properly done up door panel. My Myvi currently is using stock HU with a good set of components and custom door panels. Makes a helluva difference over stock. And it opens up future upgrade possibilities whilst not attracting thieves (stock HU mah)

Hi all sifus,

I need a slight recommendation..I recently bought Pioneer DEH-9350SD..now I want to pair up some speakers + woofers for my car.. The car I'm driving is Nissan X-Trail.

Right now, my plan is to get 2x Rockford Fosgate T1D212 (800w, max peak power 1600w) + Rockford Fosgate T1500 Monoblock Amp

Speakers, I'm thinking of getting either Rockford Fosgate T2652-S Power Series (6.5" Component) or Rockford Fosgate T252-S (5.25" Component)

Or is there any better suggestion from you guys? My friend call me to get the Pioneer Champion Pro TS-W3002D2 subwoofer instead of that RF..More power + cheaper price.
*
If price is a concern, then whatever you choose will be good for you.

If sound is a concern, I'd suggest you try to get the shop to let you try both and see which one you like. I personally don't like either one so I won't comment further.

Everyone can recommend a thousand things but if you don't like how it sounds you won't appreciate the advice mah. Try it out and decide yourself based on your priorities.

Noted. As for my 4 chnnl amp problem, is it normal if the amp become really hot when used all of its channel (2 channel to drive comp + the other 2 bridged for sub). Currently use Steq qmos105.4, 80RMS comp and 180RMS sub. Just thinking, s it coz of my power cable wiring? If can, dont want to use the mono, just want to have one amp in car boot as myvi only have small boot. Sifus, please advise.
*
Ideally it's better to use separate amps to power separate things. But it's not a 'must'.

If it's getting hot, it's either normal or you're bridging something incorrectly (wrong impedance) or you're just not ventilating the amp properly.

In the past I used to use a Orion HCCA G4 to power a sub at 1ohm. Very shiok sound and the amp was hot enough to cook an egg. But it was well ventilated and it continued on like the true soldier it was. Heat is normal. It's when it starts to cut then that's bad.

Actually, with a good setup even the back passengers will like front-only sound.

Anyway - there's no real hard and fast 'rule' to ICE. If it sounds good to you then it's a good setup.

Regarding recommendations, I personally recommend EA Autoworks Howiechoo and Peter from CV Audio Damansara.

A setup without amp and no space-taking sub, that would be my Myvi. Sounds pretty good even with stock HU. Don't compare it with a car that has amplifiers and all although it does sound better than a few I've heard. Value for money too, done at CV Audio Damansara.

I've also heard what Howie can do with minimal upgrades on a Myvi too, quite impressive for the minimal money spent.

A forumer selling out his 3 years old Phoenix Gold Xenon 100.4, the price is quite good as he told me he seldom drive his car, and the original price is 3k+.
But, i am wondering is this amp too high end for a Honda Insight stock HU?
*
There's no such thing as "too high end". Does your HU have RCA output? If yes then it'll work just fine with the amp. Just a matter of finding out what it sounds like when mixed like that.
