Hi,

I'm traveling to Europe for few months soon, comparing Citibank and HSBC card, Citibank offer 1% and HSBC offer 1.25%, but Citibank mentioned they will covert the spending currency > USD > MYR, and HSBC dint. So if its EUR > USD > MYR converted, i will gonna pay more because its double conversion? Or using USD as medium was actually a standard for every bank?

citibank source: https://www.citibank.com.my/english/common/...rges-credit.htm
hsbc souce: https://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2/personal-bankin...rd-fees-charges

p/s Any1 knew any good card to be apply to be use oversea? I'm looking at this 2, which give 1% & 1.2% rebate, meaning if i use this two card oversea, the conversion charge is as good as nothing?

Which card(s) do you have currently? From my experience, Aeon CC gives quite good rate.

Now I have a normal HSBC and HSBC Amanah platinum which doesn't give any benefit in oversea transaction as i understand

your posting date so fast .. which public bank debit card are you using?? if it is PB Visa Lifestyle Debit Card its suppose to be 1.0% on all overseas purchases  hmm.gif

Hmmm i think i misunderstood about the posting date lol. So the real amount deducted is depend on the posting date amount not the amount i get in the SMS?
And yes im using it's PB Visa Lifestyle Debit Card.

btw, get this statement from pbbank Transactions made in foreign currency will be converted to Ringgit Malaysia using US Dollar (USD) as the base currency, so when i doing calculation, its EUR > MYR directly, or shud EUR > USD > MYR?

just notice ...
your transaction date and posting date is today why are you calculation the bank rate charge to you with last month rate??
just calculate and see how much difference then only decide you want to continue using this card for transaction or not. other people can see the rate also can help other people decide
the sms u get is in foreign currency right at that time no calculation make yet..
transaction date is the date that you make transaction
posting date is the date that transaction appear in your bank statement bank use the rate of that day to do calculation

Anyone knows which bank's Master or VISA has the lowest exchange rate for oversea transaction in USD?
*
If u spend in foreign currency, the exchange rate is based on the post date conversion rate decided by Visa, so the diff is on the charges by bank, so far from all the members sharing, AEON rate are the best which is around 1%

Not during the transaction date/time? Is on posting date/time?
*
based on most bank explanation "rate on which the transaction is received and processed", the term is pretty confuse some people here use post date some using transaction date, for the exact maybe u need to call bank for clarification
