Use the MBB cause it provides lower service charges unless you are absolute sure of the MCC that you are going to get the 5% discount for the OCBC. There are few cafes I went in Melb did not reg my transaction under the 5% category.
*
but isnt that OCBC, we get 1% discount.

is my calculation below correct?

MBB: 100 + 0.5% : RM100.50
OCBC: (100+0.5%)-1%: 98.995

if there is any promotion for OCBC card, just use OCBC. Else use Maybank visa or master. Its up to you want to listen or not

As explained by other already that their currency forex rate are lower. They stated that their admin fee is 1% but after convert it will be higher than 1%. As I mentioned in my previous post; HLB mastercard say admin fee is 1% but after few transaction and after covert the admin fee is still higher than 1%... If you don't want to listen then you can try and swipe your card oversea, after the billing, you let us know or proves to us that the admin fee is 1%....
*
oh i get u. i think admin is still at 1% is just that the currency rate is higher than others offered by the bank. thx for explaning tongue.gif

The exchange rate is actually determined by VISA or MasterCard, depends on what card brand you are using.
*
u mean regardless the bank, there are only 2 rates that is visa / master?
which is lower?

I'm so confused as to how to do the currency conversion, m quite a dumy. anyhow, I used MBB Visa and OCBC Tit overseas. Alth the bank charges of OCBC is higher, with the 1/5% is still cheaper than MBB Visa. Of course, without the cash rebate, MBB is stil cheaper.

Please see below the comparison.

Transaction Date: 26.11.2011
(MBB Visa)
Amount in foreign currency: IDR 90300
After conversion: RM 32.16
Rate: RM1: IDR 2807.84

Transaction Date: 26.11.2011
(OCBC Tit), I just checked and I got 5% rebate.
Amount in foreign currency: IDR 91,000
After conversion: RM 32.55

(assuming 0%, no rebate): RM32.55
Rate: RM1: IDR 2795.67

(assuming 1%): RM32.22
Rate: RM1: IDR 2823.94

(assuming 5%): RM30.92
Rate: RM1: IDR 2942.84
