Yes, very fast indeed. Now the Google Map is slow in producing the map rather than the position lock. In SGS1, the lock is the one chasing the map.

Use Kies Air laaa much easier.

IMHO, the ODIN frenzy does not kick in yet in this thread.

Does your SGS shows any flashing counter when using custom kernel?

Pardon me if my opinion may hurt you. Since you're coming from Iphone to Android, IMHO, HTC is the best for you. And when you're in Android zone... only hardcore aka gadget freaks change phone frequently. Normal user usually stick with what they have.

It is not SGS2 rushed to the market but I think it's you coz you only used your IS for a month (correct me if I'm wrong). And the price we paid for today is the early adopter price. It should settle out at 2.3 - 2.6 region in the next couple of months.

What I like about this phone is not out of box experience, but the customization it will provides later...

My verdict of SGS2 compare with it predecessor....

1. If you're running Custom ROM, keep your SGS. SGS2 does not bring any significant speed at the moment. The only advantage is it has big RAM thus moving in and out from applications does not lag the phone just a bit better than Darky Memory tweak on SGS.
2. Games no comment at the moment. Same as SGS coz I do not have game optimize for Mali GPU.

Other than that, if you like the extra .27 inch, flash, never root and full HD then you're welcome to upgrade. The pixels is smooth, kinda remind me of Speedmod.

The storage is same as SGS (if you referring to 16GB SGS), in fact... SGS2 lost around 2GB storage compare with SGS. Dunno where it went

I'm not referring to 2GB App storage. It is the internal storage. SGS1 has 13.8GB whereas SGS2 has 11.5GB. The missing 2GB might be the hidden partition (coz the ODIN tar file do have some extra image files) or it might be the newer partition scheme by Samsung.

Actually, the "warm" is not SGS issue. It was meant to be like that. If you read SGS thread, only one person had motherboard issue coz of extreme overclocking. The warm feel is the trade off of the thin design. All the chips were cramped in small space, the warm feel is only on the top part which house all the chips. Thank God, Samsung did not produce metal cover.

This is based on SGS, for SGS2 it is too early to say the warm will effect the phone but so far no one complaining of sudden shutdown or reboot.

My record on SGS was 52C, someone even managed to hit 70C battery temp.

Regster urself @ this site first (foc) samfirmware.com and download SGS2 stock firmware or just look over the XDA. Someone posted XWKDD firmware which is same as our set. This is for recovery and back to stock mode.

It was removed from the retail unit. Maybe it has a hard time to detect the pimples.

Anyway, if you are looking to secure your phone. There is another feature. Register Samsung Account and surf samsungdive.com. It has what HTC Sense offered.

Tested and it works well, but I'm using UK set. Not sure if this will work if using local version later.
