That lady is real bad, maybe she has no idea what she is babbling about, or no idea what she was doing, hehe. unsure.gif
I would advice you to go to other optician to get 2nd or 3rd opinion since it is free at most optical shops.

Reading the eye test result

http://www.opticalexpress.co.uk/eyecare/yo...-explained.html

Normal range for astigmatism

"badly damage" is probably the wrong phrase. Perhaps she meant the correction required is bad enough that you have to wait a few days for them to get the lens. Most shops keep stock of common lenses, so you can get your glasses almost immediately. But I could never do this. Both my eyes are over 600, and I'm told most shops do not keep stock in this range.

Right eye: it's myopia of -3.0diopter (or what u all usually say 300 degree) with astig of -2.50 diopter at 175 angle (or what ppl say 250 degree of astig)

Left eye: myopia of -6.25 D with astig of -3.00D
SE stands for spherical equivalence i.e. the sum of the S + 0.5C

However the automated machines are not accurate. u need proper refraction to get the actual refractive error/degree.
ur left eye has high myopia so it's more prone to retinal tears/ detachments. if u notice floaters/ flashes of lights, pls see an eye doctor.

Hope this helps.

Actually depends on ur age...
if u r below 18, usually the power will change about 50 to 150 every year. That's a rough estimation. That's the reason why Lasik/ lasek is only offered to ppl at least 18 years or older. some actually prefer u to be at least 21. that's when ur "eye power" becomes stable.

and of course when ur specs starts to show all the scratches, it's time to change.. sweat.gif

Curious - is this "degrees" a local thing? Do people in other countries often say, eg. 300 degrees instead of 3.0 Diopter?

It depends. It's best you go to a proper optometrist to get your eyes' power updated and checked.
Those local spectacle shop will most likely test you and tell you that your power has increase because they want to earn money from you making a new pair.

I'm 21 and my power recently increase a little bit in one eye, while the other one remain stable. Then again, I did it at my cousin's optical shop and their workers tested my eyes so I don't know how accurate it is. Because now I hate my new specs as it makes me all dizzy, which most likely means power too high. doh.gif

I think diopters are optometry terms for the lens based on SI standards. More common (and simpler) to hear diopters when discussing optometry, no?
