was puzzling to their failure too although i'd never been there myself.
when it was under construction, it looks set to be a big thing in this part of town. high income area among the old citizens of matured ss2 township. steady group of yuppies and college/university student alike.
so big question on reasons for its failure??
anybody got any ideas about it?
my personal take would be:
1. lack of promotion/adverts/events
2. maybe because of it's asking rentals? (no idea how much though)
3. no proper retail agent appointed?
4. too close to tropicana mall?

Main reason is too close to Tropicana Mall which opend much earlier and already pulled the established tenants. It does not make business sense to open another branch within 0.5 km hence SS2 Mall cannot attract any big names. Cause chain reaction - no big names, no traffic/ patrons, no tenants.

The mall is huge for a neighbourhood mall; mayb another reason it is so empty. Should open 1st phase then only another phase.

haha.. got rumor stories? I stayed just beside the mall last time when I studying wor. never see get anything also

I think the reason the SS2 mall is a failure is coz there's just too much mall around that area. and really not much ppl know about the SS2 mall even exist. lol.

'Neighbourhood malls' do not need much advertisment as they cater for mainly for the neighbourhood. U can betcha SS2 residence knows bout the mall

very good idea lah.
open plenty of massage parlour.
some arcade video stores.
some dvd stores.
and voila, back to life!
lol.

guys, some people mentioned about selling high price. is this place even for sale?
a good mall (Midvalley, Suria KLCC, 1 Utama, Sunway Pyramid) usually is owner controlled and is only leased out. a bad mall is one that sells their shops like what BTS did.

i thought Ameera VP long time ago?

Pls. don't do that... it will kill the mall and chase away legit retailers. Soon attract more hanky panky business and smoking in the mall is allowed and then digital casinos doh.gif

I think SS2 mall is for rent only so don't think will fall prey to 'Endah parade/Summit/ Safari syndrom'

i wonder what's attracting the crowds to Empire Shopping Centre?  rclxub.gif
no cinemas. a slight upmarket grocery tenant (but higher price lah for groceries).

Upmarket retailers & good restaurants - There is a catchment of affluent residence in USJ/ Subang & TTDI (shah alam)

on a separate note, citta mall seems to be set for glory. plenty of big names already confirmed including cinema (MBO) and grocery (can't remember what name) with handful of finer restaurant chain.
wondering when is it gonna open their door.

is ss2 mall named ss2 mall or asia retail mall???

no offices nearby, transport/ bus problem etc no attractions at all for people to visit the place.

cineplex is out due heavy investment.
food court  depends on the rental there whereas alot of restaurant/food outlet already open and competition is great.

huge supermarket unless the management have special arrangement with tesco/carefour/giant for them to open else is difficult

Problem is the management and rental wise as well as renovations will kill the business there.

eg.
telco like maxis from tmn tun shift to ss2 mall in order to minimise the jam and find a car park just to bills  at the tmn tun.

There were rumours bout Giant being the anchor tenant some time back but I guess it fell through just like when they mentioned the Jusco would be the AT

challenging job huh...

Imaging you own SSTWO Mall now, what should/will you do to revive the activities in the mall?
*
Target a quality anchor tenant prefebaly hypermarket - Jusco or at least Cold Storage. Using the anchor tenant's influence, recruit afew minor anchor like Ace, ToyRUs, McD, Old town ect. All that had to be done during construction stage not after opening and closing down stage cry.gif

Cater more for family emphasis on children / toddlers. Have week-end bazaars and other minor activities?
