well, sgs is indeed a copycat of iphone 3gs except it looks cheaper.

i've own a sgs before, but sold it off within 2 weeks.
during that time, 9 out of 10 ppl thought it was a cheap iphone copycat from china.

of course, many of those ppl are not geeks or nerds who keep updated abt android trend.
but it was still very embarrassing enough that i finally let it go.
and also because it was so laggy.

Hi Celcom Axiata, with due respect, we all know you are an iPhone supporter, and so be it.
You can forever be an iPhone supporter, who cares.....

You owned SGS before? Who cares whether you are telling the truth or not, right?

You like iPhone, I like Android. You like Pink, I like Blue. You like simple iphone, I like exciting and challenging SGS, you like the normal iOS, I like the up and coming Android, You like to play with apps only, I like to play with Odin and CWM.....so what, right?

No point come here kacau kacau lah.....anyway, if you come to your senses in the future and do buy an Android phone, we will welcome you here....

am still playing with MIUI. you guys punya review about JVB ni looks tempting pula. aiyoyoyo

I'm still on MIUI too.....

I guess it is a matter of User Interface versus Functionality.

For Functionaliy, GB rom is the way to go, everything works, from FM Radio to Camera to decent battery life....but the user interface will be pretty much similar to Froyo or Eclair....the most is maybe we can install different themes etc...after a while might get bored..haha

For a totally different UI, MIUI is the way to go, but have to sacrifice on a bit of functionality mentioned above....however, I'm hoping that with the release of the source codes, the developers can improve on the MIUI functionality...

For play play and shiokness, MIUI lah....for a more stable and reliable daily working phone, go GB......

My 2 cents only

yeah bro, we're still on the same side juga. feel so satisfied when using MIUI tho, GPS okay, camera pun acceptable lah. i read ur post in xda, u facing what problem eh? what kernel u're using right now? i'm on zach's core low latency 17/04, how about u?
*
Hi bro,

Glad to hear you are still on MIUI, at least I'm not alone...haha...not sure if Fornaxlife has jump ship...

I using Boz MIUI v4a Rom with the TkGlitch-v5a kernel.

Actually, I was wondering whether you can help me to check something. After you make a call or receive a call, can you use app like SGS Toolbox or type *#*#4636#*#* in keypad to check your Battery History. Under the Sensor Usage tab, does your Dialer app cause the sensor to keep on running?

Other than that, the issues I face are:

1) No FM radio - not too bad coz I don't really listen to it from my SGS...usually listen to radio in my car.
2) 720p video recording - trying to find the best video recorder app that works in MIUI Rom to give decent result...still searching. But not too bad coz I can always do HD video recording with my Nikon DSLR.
3) Compass app - not working, but actually I don't really use it much anyway...haha, not a fengshui guy nor do I get lost every day in the jungle...haha
4) High battery drain

No other significant problems that affect me badly on a daily basis.

The auto-rotate works, bluetooth connection with my handsfree headset and PC works (haven't try file transfer with another phone yet), Camera works (Retro Camera app not bad juga), All SD card detection works, superb UI (only those who have used MIUI will understand what I mean...haha), easy to switch on/off data (no need to press Power button or install apndroid etc), there is also a Monitor app to check Data Traffic (no need to install 3G Watchdog),....etc...

Hopefully the MIUI developers can fix some of these issues in the upcoming MIUI versions since the source codes are released by Samsung already...fingers crossed...

Hi Erymanthus,

Do your phone lag sometime?mine will lag after some time and when scrolling in setting, can feel the lagginess. Or is it only my phone? And yes, battery drainage are very huge. Other than that, the rom rock!
*
On the contrary, I find that MIUI is very smooth...the scrolling in File Explorer, the opening of apps in Manage Applications, etc..very smooth and quick......In setting? maybe a bit lag, but not significant...after all, not much to scroll cause the menu list is quite short......scrolling in the long Contact list also very smooth...

To reduce battery drainage, switch-off Auto Rotate function. It will cause some apps to make the sensor run in the background non stop until you reboot the phone...it is like the famous Gallery bug in Froyo...

Yup, the Rom rocks....let's hope Mambo and team can solve more issues soon....

If we have stable CM7 and MIUI. then it'll be enough laugh.gif

I also have the same thought too. We know that SGS will soon be superceded by new SGS 2, etc....hence, inevitably all things related to SGS will slowly fade out....including Custom ROM, casing, screen protector etc....

For those who are "kiasu", better stock up some good screen protector and casing in case you can't get them anymore in 6 months time...haha...

You can observed that SGP Store (main website) already phased out all their casing for SGS, only left SGP Silke case and 4-5 colours only....

Sad but true...

The main thing is hopefully we get a good and reliable Gingerbread Stock ROM, a good Custom GB ROM, a stable CM7 AND MIUI ROM before all the developers phased themselves out from SGS.....some of the developers have left us like Doc himself (now run by some guy called Tricky or something, right?), Webstar has left XDA, now Darky also leaving,

i dont know how, enlarge text in internet browser eh.... why dont you use pinch and zoom?

last time i have that kind of magnifier is when im using a keyboard.better keyboard if not mistaken or ultra keyboard

as far as i know it, samsung only provide arrow to move around the text, no enlargement
Are you refering to the 2 magnifying glass on the bottom right, one with + and the other with - sign?

I can see this in my MIUI browser...but sorry, I don't know how to extract this function for you...

my simply honey + some other theme keep cause my phone to reboot

any recommendations for custom rom for froyo? darky?
*
You can check this out:

Criskelo Froyo 2.2.1 ROM

Something different from the usual Doc's, Darky or Simply Galaxy.

Fornaxlife and myself have used Criskelo ROM before and quite good....you can consider trying it, if don't like can always flash again...

1 - my phone always restart by itself if using BB line..

2 - now my wifi cant scan any network..

anyone has this problem b4?

tq.
*
Honestly, I think more than 80% of the forumer here are either using Froyo 2.2 and 2.2.1 and Gingerbread 2.3.3.

Eclair? loooong time never heard of this already.....hee hee.....

Why don't you consider upgrading to Froyo?

If you want to stick with stock rom, you can flash Froyo DXJPE?
