Hi there. I am considering this car. Gonna have a kid in aug soon. Driving a saga. Thinking of getting new safer car. Asx boot space can put in baby pram? It looks kinda small. The space all eaten up by the tyre.

if you take out the boot cover, yes

but then you'll run out of space

most of the inspira parts are made in japan

they are rebadged from mitsu

they have the same part number with mitsu

and they are cheaper than mitsu

case example: Part number 8701A087 - 'Switch, Steering Wheel Remote Control'

proton: RM 295
mitsu: rm 350
of course u can get some parts cheaper by rummaging through lancer's half cut
*
well said..most parts from proton are 10% cheaper...oil filter is one good example. rm34 vs rm 37 by mitsu.

Yea the spare tire eats alot of space. If you fold the pram definitely can fit lar. Like the above poster Said, you might need to remove the boot cover. However it should be sufficient for daily use. You can fold down.one of the 60-40 seats if you really need to.

I'm also planning for a kid soon. The asx is the best value for money family vehicle Imo. Alot of rear seat space for inlaws and high riding position for safety and visibility. The boot cramped because of the spare tire which makes the boot shallow. But bear in mind this is not the crappy mini tires you get from Mazda but a real spare tire.

At this price range it's either the Asx or the Tucson. I prefer sushi over kimchi any day if same price. Tucson also getting dated already lar. If up your budget Abit, cx5, sportage and Crv are slightly bigger in terms of boot space but they cost 20-30k more for almost the same car.

Anyone know is there any promotion for ASX 2WD ? Thinking to pay a visit to mitsubishi show room.

One more silly question i would like to ask, is there a big different of price between 16 and 17 tyre ?

Just want to makesure it didnt cause much for maintenance of the car.

17" wheels will have worse fc (though not so significant)

and as always, bigger wheels = better look

plus 17" tyres are generally more expensive than 16"

mine's an 18" wheel. should have gone for full 19" but rm 700 / pc tyres are putting me off. 20" is way too big for ASX wheel wells

with 16" wheels:

I test drive last saturday at glenmeries 4wd version..

Drawback.. rear seat it to uncomfortable for long distance..

For luggage.. have to install thule hahaha

I think power enough for this Size of car if daily use. The only more powerful suvs are the forester and the cx5 2.5 which are 165-200+k.

During test drive I feel it was sufficiently powered. Nothing amazing, just ok.

As for Cx5 vs Asx.

Cx5 pros:
Bigger boot, nice handling, good looks.

ASX pros:
Nice looks, very manly front grill. Price, newer model, parts share with lancer/inspira so long term spare part no issue and long warranty.

If money is no issue, I would definitely go for the 2.5 CX5. But in terms of cost of ownership I decided on the Asx because it's much cheaper, good long term maintenence due to plenty of lancer/ inspira parts. Definitely asx is much cheaper to own. 2.0 plus high riding height with good rear seating space plus decent boot size is enough for family man like me.

@ lucifah, nice rims!

very underpowered

for me, must at least put a 4B11T with 300hp in it then laugh.gif

but seriously, 150+hp with just 1,350kg kerb weight is more than enough for this car. it is the CVT that is letting down the whole package

u lose as much as 50hp at the wheels due to the CVT sad.gif

tq. the 18"" tyres are expensive. the wheels are not. (RM800 for those set of 18" mitsu lance wheels)

decent boot space? u need to remove the boot lid and keep it in the house so u can have more space wink.gif

i have to admit i constantly struggle with boot space at the back. installing thule roofrack will eat your FC

i didn't trade in the 16" as i swapped it for my older x-trail use

using 16", i can get as low as 6.8L/100km

with 18", i can only achieve 7.4L/100km, which is not bad, considering how the 18" weighs a lot more than the 16" lightweight enkei OEM wheels

but the trade off in FC is offset by the good look, i believe laugh.gif

sadly, there is no one in town that can do that

all are in KL or some other parts of peninsula. if not, i'd gone for the full package to do auto-locking and ECU remap, which is worth the money

IIRC, remap can only be done for first gen ASX, aka the 2010 to 2011 model w/o push start button

Any good shop with good tyre trade in price u know of?

120k is still a big ask. Need to get the next car right considering baby comin too. If the boot space is bigger, probably will not be thinking twice. Baby pram... Wat else need to be fitted in the boot? No experience yet!
