if it runs on froyo, i bet SuperOneClick can do the job.

xizzat is super correct in this case y'all. so read up GB risk-takers, cuz ur gonna need this if u want to update official GB with Kies.

I also tried the leaked gingerbread version, and I also got the hard brick thingy. Already felt a little regret switching to leak GB, but, I found ur saviour! The thing is, the GB is a multi-package firmware and to downgrade, u need a multi-package froyo firmware. From samfirmware.com, there is only ONE froyo firmware that is multi-package, which is the arabic S5830JPKA7 (luckily). so here's the low down on how to change ur firmware back to S5830DXKC1.

This guide is made in mind that the peeps who are going to attempt this have a basic idea on how to use ODIN.

1. Download the S5830JPKA7 from samfirmware.com or here. u gotta use this one, not the newer one. Also, download the S5830DXKC1 firmware, not S5830DDKC1 (for u peeps who are challenged in sight, one is DX and the other, DD. we want DX). That's for India. If u download that, might as well just go on with the arabic firmware. It's this one right here.

2. Have Odin 4.38 on stand-by (sure most of u have 'em)

3. Extract the Arabic firmware. Inside, u'll find 5 files. APBOOT, CODE, CSC, KERNEL and MODEM. This is the confusing part for me. but, after taking a daring chance, i inputted these accordingly OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-MODEM, PDA-CODE, CSC-CSC. btw, OPS is the same OPS used to upgrade to GB (Cooper.ops). KERNEL is NOT used. not used. so don't worry. Run Odin as usual. and just in case, number 3 needs to be done while the phone is in download mode .

4. After Odin gave a pass, u can see the home screen and in settings, the firmware version is back to 2.2.1.

5. Restart ur phone back into download mode. Do not extract S5830DXKC1 firmware, keep it as it is. Input the same OPS used earlier, tick one-package file and input the whole rar file into Odin, and run it.

6. After Odin gave a pass, check on to firmware, and u have ur lovely old laggy full of SOD DXKC1 firmware. Seriously, after tasting GB, froyo does feel sluggish. =D

Please note that I will not bear any risk associated with the above instructions if anything goes wrong with it. Follow the instructions carefully okay?

I don't think GB is released xizzat. just news of confirmation saying we have GB. we may have it around next month coz according to the page provided by i-forgot-who, europe will get it first and we're kinda in the last place to get it (harap je samsu*g company asia, tp kita jgk yg last dpt update) but this sounds like real trouble! perhaps our kies is country specific, not region specific.

anyway, CSC means customer sales code, n judging from what u pasted, samfirware.com may have korean csc only. i MIGHT have found a solution though. would u try inserting *#272*IMEI# then pick your country sales code. i can't try it cuz I made the mistake of installing DDKC1 on my device *facepalm*. DDKC1 is india exclusive =.-" funny thing tho xizzat, there is no KOR code for csc, and even if KOR exists, it's not for korea as korea's CSC is SKT (TMI alert) if u ever get to find *#272*IMEI# working, select CCM.


btw, in the DXKC1 firmware, does texting or swype support bahasa malaysia xizzat? desperately need it. T-T

well, kies cd comes in region, that's one thing i can think csc is used for. one more, it could determine what kind of apps u can ownload from market and how the market behaves is quite influenced by csc. i'm talking about market as in apps, not market "business market". I'm glad it worked!

Added on May 17, 2011, 7:12 pmfistbump bro! well, if u r not a fanatic mmser, why not just turn off packet data? if u want to use mms, the thing is kinda tough a bit. some ppl say that deleting the internet apn from settings work, but in my case (celcom) it didn't work. I'll tell this one more time since this is thread v2.

1. root ur device. don't be too scared, if done properly, rooting does not damage the phone at all. most probably anyways. it's on the first page fyi.

2. install droidwall from the market. or if ur kinda advance, can just download it from pc and install it into phone.

3. open droidwall, and make sure on top it says whitelist. then tick anything u want to be able to use wifi, and tick messaging ONLY if u want to use mms only. even if ur using third part messaging app, tick messaging ONLY. click the menu button (left button) and click apply rules. also, make sure firewall is applied (it has a green button if it is enabled)

Added on May 17, 2011, 7:23 pmhaha! if u really2 can't stand SOD, then upgrade to the leak GB firmware. confirm xde SOD. but then to get the official update will be a bit pain la. a bit. official meaning trough kies. like this la jc, if u r using KC1, then u don't have to update. so far, I think the stable update is DXKA9 (my original FW) shame had to upgrade to this SOD FW.

btw xizzat, thanks for confirming! yay~ can swype easily now. loving it~ right now i am using XME too. it says so on samfirmware that xme is malaysian

ahaha! had the same problem man. but that time, uni punya line is super shitbrick. i want to send mms keep fail, until 5 bux gone.

assuming ur somewhere were the line is superb, why not u just type SET and send it to 20999. get a fresh new APN and try send MMS. if u have crappy lines then don't bother. 1 mms send or no send automatically cost u RM 0.50 once a few data gets out.

I had the initial thought that by upgrading to leak GB our local Kies will not update our phone, won't even read our phone or something, not really true then is it? ooooo.. but no, i love swyping in bm and i think i'm gonna keep it that way. if i only use english then it would be fine to change it to another region just to get GB.

bugeca, GB is already rolled out is it? i got a feeling that u r implying nordic region have their GB already. ^^ then we'll have ours in no time!!!

rilakkuma guy, I'm sorry but that's the proximity sensor only.. no It doesn't have a front facing cam. maybe can accept video call from other person, but the other person cannot see ur face la.. and the official ROM i still pending.. there is only the leaked KPE GB ROM.

may I reccommend GoSMS. lovely, just lovely. =)

I have been using KC1 for a while and I gotta tell you, it really sucks when comparing it to the KA9 ROM I had before.. SO, I can confirm to all of the users here that the SOD's comes from the KC1 FW. so to those who feels like throwing their phone at a dog because of the SOD's, be patient for the GB update, or upgrade to GB KPE or KA9 from other regions. I also found out, by using KC1, the RAM management is super duper stupid. there are at times the RAM usage gets up to 95% making it very sluggish, whereas, in the previous FW, it usually gets up to 70% max.

KC1 must be an intern's work then.

no nid rooting.. and plus, for nooby android user i highly recommend go launcher.. easy to use, many themes preset, plus, can change app drawer background to PICTURE not just color like ADW (or perhaps xhabis jalan2 lg kot)
