Yo guys, here's some insights on the upcoming Asus U46: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Details-of-th...ge.53791.0.html
Damn why they have to go and follow Dell's stylings  sad.gif

Photos obtained from the link:

They tried to slim down the waist, but the fat transfered down to the buttock instead sweat.gif sweat.gif

Anyway, anyone found a way to effectively cool down ASUS N43/53 ?
i tried several cooler and homemade. but none of these works charmingly.

Referal temp - without cooler. [Cpu1: 69 | Cpu2 :75 | Vga: 56]

test 1 - I read that n53 air intake is at the keyboard? i tried placing 2 fans over the keyboard. [67 | 74 | 54]
test 2 - by putting big fan below laptop. [67 | 74 | 54]
test 3 - Using my custom homemade cooler. [66 | 73 | 53]

Tested using Prime95. Maximum load. 5 mins. no aircond. small room. on AC power.

If move the laptop to just beside the laptop, also slow ping ?
*
u mean router? yeah im pretty much beside it.. the ping isnt that low, its fluctuating..sometime low, sometime very high. (which causes lag spike in online games. and the lag spike is like every 2 second.)

Are you using any app to make the battery last that long? How to do it?

Sorry, I just bought Asus A43SJ, but don't know how to make the battery last long  blush.gif
*
er, software.. asus p4g which is bundled. thats all. and try to reduce ram/cpu usage manually(disabling things u dont need to run)..
ps : idk, some microsoft service is power saving feature. but dunno which 1.. since i try disabled all the unused microsoft services to save battery, but end up 40mins less compared to windows running all services.. lol. so i just disabled a few.

lolx.... erm.. bios. im afraid to touch... though if i rmb correctly.... just dload windows bios flash utility frm asus website rite? then just flash frm windows. correct?
shoudl be the installer frm asus website... tat y previously i asking... but bios scares me... scare kaput  sweat.gif
a series(except 15 incher) dun hav nvidia optimus tech... it cant swith to the low power integrated intel graphics... so expect it to nt last long on battery... BUT.... if i rmb correctly... ur model gt bigger battery capacity.... 2nd oli to the U series... should be able to last u 4hours+- ... haha amazing since it runs on power hungry nvidia grapphics..  thumbup.gif
*
I dont reccomend for u to use the window bios utility.. flashing bios within windows is risky and not stable..
u shud install the bios thru Bios setup since asus gladly bundled us with easy flash utility in the bios.. flashing took less than 1 min for me smile.gif

Manage to turn off bios sound by using Asus utility - fancystart.. i create a 0.01sec silent wav file. and assigned it as the boot sound. so now my boot is back silent. all good smile.gif

did i say? the 8 hours is totally awesome LOL. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
Asus greatly improve the speedstep/c1e (idk) mechanism in the processor.. i check at cpu-z and found my laptop only used 0.7xxV with 7xx mhz at multiplier x8.0

When did u hear the crackle sound? as for boot sound, its crackling and noisy. so i disabled it... but in windows, no sound problem for me.

ohh ohh. manage to upload the pic LOL.
somehow, the net is slow because thousands of student hogging it, but no one uploading maybe.

er, no need my p4g setting as i set all to lowest (except Bat saving desktop as it looks ugly and will spoil my ROG-ed appearance tongue.gif)
cpu minimum = 0
cpu max = 20 (i dont think browsing will use up until 20%..mostly 2-3%)

im still having some problems following the guide

i baru open that website while searching for services that can be disabled. lol.
ill nver get enough from what ive had tongue.gif
my record of booting time is 23sec (normal boot, not barebone)
aaanyway, anyone having problem same as me. after i installed fancystart(to disable boot sound) my boot boot screen become vista boot screen with he moving bar instead of the win 7 shining orb. and so does resuming, mine became "dos-like" windows resuming appearance that vista had. doh.gif
have to edit the boot screen back to ROG style manually >.>
