Hi guys, my mom received a call from Ambank regarding my dad's debt when he already passed away for 15 years already. She said my dad has a debt and now his debt is around 62k already because not paying anything for the past years but the question is why would she asks my mom to pay now when she didn't even contact us for the past 15 years? Is it a scam right?
The number was 0326145686

Have just received one of these scam calls short while ago. Claiming to be from ambank saying they have a CC registered under my IC and owe them RM7k+. Some more told me my IC number, but address was way off. When I mentioned that I suspect he might be scamming me, he kept saying he really is from ambank and also kept saying to me to go present myself at BNM KL to present myself and clear the CC. After calling two ambank branches to check, both branches confirmed nothing under my details.

Number scammer used: 03 2036 1020
(Said his name was Roslan bin Haji Morsidhi and he is from cawangan ambank KL 55, which both no such records either from ambank side. Mostly fake and trying to sound like he really from ambank? shakehead.gif )

Just beware of this number since I could not find this number listed here as a scam number when I was on the line with them.

Scammer called me and spoke in a local Mandarin accent, making up some bullshit about my OCBC card being maxed out in Lazada and offering to increase my credit limit. I don't even have an OCBC credit card.

Scam Alert: Spot a fake promo? Don't click!
-02 FEBRUARY 2021

Don't be quick to click on any advertisements that look too good to be true! Scammers are getting smarter these days and they are taking advantage by creating “fake” promotions/campaigns on social media that will convince you to disclose YOUR sensitive information, such as your Maybank2u username and password. Always be cautious if you see one in your news feed!

How to spot a scam? Watch out for these red flags when you see an advertisement or are brought to a website. If you have responded to it with your personal details, please contact us immediately at 03-5891 4744.

user posted image

Check the URL to spot fraudulent websites
Scammers create phishing websites that look almost the same as M2U to steal your login details. Always double check the URL, but to be safe, type the URL www.maybank2u.com.my on your browser to visit Maybank2u at all times.

user posted image

Scammers use Unicode characters to mimic Maybank
These characters look different from the regular Facebook font used on Facebook. If you’re in doubt, click on the profile to verify if it’s indeed Maybank’s official social media page.

user posted image

Be wary of the terms/names used in the advertisement
A fake promo usually imitates Maybank2u or M2U to confuse customers. Watch out for incorrect terms such as “MY2U”.

user posted image

Verify your M2U profile image and security phrase
After keying in your username, M2U will always show your profile image and security phrase for verification. Make sure they are correct before keying in your password.

SCAM ALERT: Stay vigilant! Protect yourself from online scams [from Maybank]
-04 FEBRUARY 2021

Some of you would have read about people falling for fake promos offering prizes and leading them to a fake internet banking website that look like ours.

Your security is our utmost priority. Here are some useful tips to ensure you continue to stay safe when banking online with us. At every step of the way, we have enabled features that allow you to think twice before you transact.
- NEVER click on any links that attempt to take you to Maybank2u. Always enter the URL maybank2u.com.my directly into your browser.
- When you search for ‘Maybank’ or ‘Maybank2u’ on search engines, double check the URL before clicking. While our websites will always appear as the top search results, it is still safer to enter the URL maybank2u.com.my directly into your browser.
- Do not fall for offers and promotions that are too good to be true. They are scams and will take you to a fake site.
- Always verify your profile image and security phrase when you log in to Maybank2u. Check carefully to make sure they are correct before keying in your password.
- Use the MAE or Maybank2u app for even greater security and peace of mind.
- Be extremely wary if you receive calls or SMS from strangers claiming that a TAC was mistakenly sent to you. NEVER reveal your TAC, as well as your Maybank2u username and password to anyone, even if they claim to be a Maybank staff. We will NEVER ask for such details. And when you receive a TAC, always check the transaction details in the SMS to verify that the transaction is indeed performed by you.
- Never use public Wi-Fi when you bank online as your personal information could be exposed to hackers. Make sure you bank online in a safe and secure environment all the time.
- Keep your antivirus software up-to-date at all times. This helps to protect your computer from malware attack.
- When in doubt, do visit Maybank2u or our social media platforms for official announcements or campaign details. The official pages are listed below. Visit these pages directly and not via suspicious looking links or too good to be true ads.

Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/Maybank/
Twitter - https://twitter.com/mymaybank
Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mymaybank/

If you have accidentally revealed your Maybank2u login details on scam websites, please contact us immediately at 03-5891-4744.

This is in the news too:

Fake Maybank2u website being used by scammers to steal banking info

PETALING JAYA: Maybank has issued a warning to its users about a fake Maybank2u website that is being used by scammers for phishing attacks.

In a statement on its website, the bank said users are being lured to the fake website through a promotional post on Facebook promising prizes.

The post instructs users to click a link which will direct them to the fake site, requiring them to input their username and password, which could be used by scammers to gain access to their accounts.

Maybank urged users to key in the address – maybank2u.com.my – directly into their browser instead of clicking on links provided by others.
