hi all,

does singapore's company take in malaysia university's student for internship? hmm.gif

i would like to have my internship in singapore.

My internship period is the last semester of my degree, which means that i am able to continue the job as in permanent position directly after my internship period.

I am currently final year student in Electrical and electronic engineering.

anyone of you all here can of any help? icon_question.gif
I need and I appreciate your help very much.

I am eagerly looking for job based in singapore. helpz....

P/S: I have been applying for internship jobs in Singapore through Jobstreet, but all applications are rejected.
The requirement do not state that "only singaporean and PR may apply" or something similar,
and they do not state that not welcome for malaysia student seeking for internship.

I am wondering, is it bcz that Singapore's company only take in their local universities student (NUS, NTU) for internship
and not for malaysia universities' student?

** My academic result is not an issue I think. Cz I have been performing very well throughout my studies. **

pls advice.

let me list down a few things that employers are concern when taking in internship from overseas student.
1. they need to apply work permit for you in-order to let u reside in Singapore. Applying work permit usually take around 1 month time.
2. applying a work permit needs to go through a medical screening (fees paid by employer).
3. why bother hiring intern from Malaysia when they have so many student in Singapore it self?
4. the student might have home sick or during festive season where we need that person to work, 99% that foreigner sure not going to work because the distance of their hometown from the work place is too far.

If u manage to get an internship in Singapore, i would say that 99% of them got connection in that company and another 1% is lucky and mayb the nature of job of the company does not match most of the local intern's criteria.

PS : with Singapore GE is just around the corner, MOM (Ministry of Manpower) have tighten the rules in approving a work permit, Spass and employment pass. There are a lot of other forumer's work pass application got rejected and bare in mind, they are working full time and not only intern. So in other words, even u passed the employers interview. The SG gov might not accept you as well. Instead of going through so much hassle, why not finish ur intern in Malaysia, then only start looking for a Job in SG after you graduate.

well, as i mentioned, my intern is my last semester of degree. I can continue with a permanent job position directly after I complete my intern.
thus, I am looking for a position where i can have my 4 months internship, continue with a permanent job after that.

Thus, from the company view of point, it is good to them too.
cz for the first 4 months as my intern, they no need to pay me so much. as intern should be just around S$600-800 right?

It is not harmful to them isnt it?
Cz i have completed all my subjects. Just that my university make internship compulsary as the last semester.

obviously those companies come to UM to seek candidate for intern and possibly permanent job.  they do have good connection with the lecturers literally. one of them are micron singapore  smile.gif

I did applied for Micron Singapore too..through their website.
but none of it successful.
Maybe as you said, they secure the priviledge for UM student.
