Hi guys, newbie here 1st post

Just some quick question about overclocking my new pc

I had disabled C1E and Speedstep, but my proc will still auto downclock when idle(6*400fsb instead of 8.5*400fsb), is this normal?

also load line calibration? enable or not to enable??

overclocked my q9550 to 3.41Ghz @ 1.26vcore, temp is around 62c(load) BUT my nb temp is at 70c(idle) and 87c(load) during prime95 test. How far sifu recommend nb temp to be? 87c is scary ler

My Pc Spec:
Q9550
Asus Maximus 2 Formula
4x 2gb kingston hyperx ddr2 1066
640gb wd hdd
2x HD4870 cfire
CM cosmos s

thanks, so is 87c in nb fine?

haven't really temper vmch and vfsb YET, they are all auto. Newbie ma so giv me some time to test

as for air circulation, what do you recommend i put? currently got 1 front, 1 top, 1 side and 1 rear. I'm going to buy another 120mm fan for better circulation (still got 1 space left for top)

Front - Intake?
Rear - Exhaust?
top - Intake?
side - Intake?

Added a new 120mm fan above and in front, Nb temperature decrease from 87 to 84 (load) sad.gif and idle at 73c any northbridge cooler to recommend, pls recommend sth tat is selling in lyp

My air circulation setup - 2 Front Intake, 1 Side Intake, 2 Top Exhaust, 1 Rear Exhaust.

some questions for overclocking:
for a quad like q9550, recommended temp is 65-70c? My proc overclock a bit only temp reach up to 65c load, using zalman 8700 here
also nb voltage(vmch i think) should not exceed how many volt?

Edit: Found out why nb temp so high liao, its because of the thermal paste.. Problem solved, now nb idle at 68, load at 76c yay biggrin.gif

i tried everything, even without oc my nb temp is at 62 idle

read about some review saying it should be fine under 80c. 90c is the limit

what temp u guys got for ur nb? do u think the reason why my nb so hot is because of i have 4 pairs of ram and 2 pair of g/c which are putting stress there?
