INTEL Pentiums, Pentium II, Pentium III, Pentium IV, Pentium D, Pentium M / Celeron, Celeron D users.

Since its been too long that no Intels owners have the chance to talk about overclocking results, tips and tricks, might as well i start one. If the both Mod see that this is an irrelevant thread and should be demolished, no hard feelings for me though.

All Intels fella unite here to let the whole LYP that Pentiums still rocks. I've left the AMD world and it seems that sooner or later i'll be back to play Intel.

All your problems, achievements in overclocking can be posted here adn make sure the template are as below:

according to you in another thread, u've mentioned a problem of making ur system stabilized at high O/C...

to answer ur question about what timings and voltage i can only advice to up ur vdimm to 2.9v and timings let it loose first...then test to see how far it can go and watch out for 'THE WALL'

as far as hynix users go 2.5 3-3-7 is the tightest in terms of stability at high FSB...and above 2.9 is only heat production....

*
OEM motherboards usually doesnt have overclocking options....this is bcoz there is no PC manufacturer which sells bundled PC wif overclocking functions..xcept alienware which i think is not so overclockable....the problem with server based mobo there are not many manufacturer that build a mobo for the sake of overclocking which their target i assume is 90% right and 10% wrong...

I'm not sure if this is the right section or not.But I just to ask if a Pentium 4 2GHz cooling fan can be use with a Pentium 4 3GHz HT?

The original P4 3GHz cooling fan is too noisy and I want to change it to my old P4 2GHz cooling fan which is virtually silence.
*
if the fan's output is the same with the 3Ghz why not?...the only this is ur 2.0 fan issit still working optimally?? whistling.gif

output = CFM = the amount or air in manages to scoop in....

optimally = working in good condition.

hi to all sifus...need help on overclocking my system

1) p4 3.0GHz presscott:
i was able to o/c my cpu to 3.75GHz with fsb set at 250MHz. the question is how much is the Vcore  threshold for this cpu? default should be 1.375v now o/v to 1.4125v is it still in the safe region?just dun want to burn my cpu....my current temp is around 53~55c max...is it fine?

2) Corsair pc3200 xms twinx ver1.2 (ch-5?)default timing is 2,3,3,6
my mobo is asus p4p800se, the max o/v i could do is just 2.85v and the result is 2,2,3,5@200Mhz but if o/c the fastest speed ascertain is 2.5,4,4,8@225Mhz, which one is better? also anyway i can go higher on the voltage for the vdimm? any alternative rather than using the ocz booster?
*
No sifu here, but trying to help...

1) besides ur overclocking results what interest me is the temp...53-55c max???if i were u i kick in more vcore coz ur presscot is consider a cool one...mine at the office running 67-75c stock vcore....

2) i havent heard any bioses that has the option but u can try to get booster and find out if u can pump in more juice...since it is safer that vmod...its better too...

eh... i got a question.... when i run cpu-z, the voltage of my pc is not stable..i mean the value keep on changing... is that normal???
*
flunctuations is normal.... -+0.03 but if the flunctuations is more than -+ 0.05/6 thats abnormal....PSU problem is most common,...dirty current should also be the problem... notworthy.gif

1. Automatic, it means default voltage, depends on ur cpu itself, 1.525v or 1.550v. U hav2 manually adjust to find the sweet spot when overclocking.

2. Tat's the voltage during 'idle' mod. Try stressing the cpu by folding or prime and the voltage will drop to 'load' probablt to around 1.55v

3. Try to keep below 1.65 if ur on Aircooling. Aso apply some good thermal compund

want to ask that what is the maximum voltage that my processor can take.
my processor is P4 2.4 B 533mhz ,512kb L2
*
Have u tried it for your self?
Have you read any of the reviews on P4 Presscotts Overclocking Results (speed/temp)

For starters maybe u can try raise .05v or .10v see which is available...then watch carefully the temp readings...if u cant read the temp readings...try and touch ur CPU Cooler...if hot as hell u might consider getting a better cooler b4 starting to raise the vcore....

QUOTE(RiCHBoyZ @ Dec 29 2005, 04:58 PM)
hello expert guyz.....can P4 LGA775 506 2.66GHz /1MB/533 overclock? BTW im using AS8-V mobo and yes it uGURU.....but what max i can go? Any ex-user/current-user for thos spec here?.... Corsair VS512MB 2.5 PC3200 yep that its....TQ
*
I dun have the current spec...

but when u asked "can P4 LGA775 506 2.66GHz /1MB/533 overclock?" that interest me....coz all processors can be run above their rated spec....is a matter of how high it can run....in your case is better you try first then ask about the problem of what you are gettin from overclocking....

"Whats the max i can go?" question is already too much and why not try to ask question like "I've achieve the max, now what?" thumbup.gif

want to ask that every CPU hv maximum clock speed that can operate?? over the clock speed will burn the CPU ???
*
yes...same as sex....

some can stand longer but only one shot....
some can a lot of shot but cannot stand long...
some has long but not strong...
some has short and can stand strong...

so answering your question i hope that u understand that NOT even the same batch, steepings, sllicone, wafer, chocolate chip processor can perform the same....it depends on the technique and a whole lotta luck....

Burn CPU....high clock speed don burn the CPU...high voltage does....

How come ES processor cant OC much than the normal ones?
I tot ES is better! Can anyone tell me with mobo can support ES 775 proc tat have PCI-E gpu?Best for OC also stable?apreciate it

MY RIG
P4 2.8 ES 775 + stok HSF n fan
Gigabyte 8IPE775/G
512x2 Kingston KVR DDR333@400 winbond chips

nizam wat spec ur using?care to share?
*
unfortunately we can't(and if there is he wont be reading this post coz there is no reply from him...)..All components performs differently compares to its brothers...

the best way is to learn the technique (again like sex) then see the results for your self.....I dont think you wanna us to see while you 'do it' right....So stick with the technique and ur be safe....

What is the technique u may ask????Well read stickies...

QUOTE(hosty @ Jan 4 2006, 04:59 AM)
I"m newbie anything OC but got ineteested while reading this forum.

I have a Intel P4 630
Prescott
LGA775
Also,i'm using a I-cute casing with 450w PSU.
MY mobo is the MSI PM8MV-2
Can I still oc the CPU abit more?
I wanna get the most out of it..
*
can...push the FSB bit by bit...do it in BIOS...untill u cant reboot....then recover by lowering the FSB it down again untill u can pass POST and boot into windows...after that try stability test such as Prime,Super PI,CPU Burn....Try to see if the test failed among ur overclocked FSB/....if fail lower down a little until you can pass around 5 hours of stability testing....

for more info read the stickies at the main Overclocker United page....

QUOTE(styloe @ Jan 4 2006, 08:00 AM)
Sifu,
Could u be more specific by wat do ya mean by "optimization" there..thnx much appreciate it.sorry to trouble u.. sweat.gif
Im still learning ere whistling.gif  whistling.gif
*
Its how you make the most outta both worlds...(again sex) like if ur short, try not to use doggy technique coz it will make it unreachable....

same as overclocking....

lets say a 3000mhz P4 with 200FSB x 15 multiplier....(imagine that the proc is ES)

then after a lot of testing you found out that your proc works best with a 275 FSB increase....but the proc wont be a stable as the Ram (assume TCCD)....so:

275 x 15 = 4125MHZ (WOW) but remember...ur proc is unable to work as high....Jus say your proc works best at 3500mhz...so you will either drop the multipiler to 12 which gives you 3300mhz or 13 which give you 3575mhz speed...which is 75mhz more clock than u r stable at...but still can be counter by vcore increase....

So its better to have a test on all the components to see which is which needs 'optimization'. The use the ability of the ES to control the Multiplier which is crucial in determinating your result...

easy...just select how many kilobytes or megabytes of calculation you want to do then just hit ok!...normally for stability ppl usually do test for 32Mb Calculation....

People who built the CPU has a minimal of a Masters Degree or better yet PHd.
People who manufacturer is has a minimal of Bacheclor' Degree or better yet Masters Holders
People who tested it also have the scrol of Masters
People who wrote the EULA, Warranty Disclaimer, Designers has also a minimal requirements of Masters or Bachelor's.
People who is going to check ur CPU,Mobo will hold what u think????

They know..but sometimes they miss....sometimes they ignore...and sometimes they just return the CPU to u and say "Damage due to overclocking....Warranty void! Any disagreements can proceed with High State/Federal/Capital Supreme Court via repectative countries".
