i have problem with my processor temps.
ok here's the prob: before i remove the cooler, the temps are normal = CPU = 45C idle, Cores = 53C idle. after i remove the HSF and reapply new AS5 paste (rice method) the temp went so high even at idle = 57C+, Core = 65C+ no matter how many times i try to re-sit the heatsink, still the same! even at stock speed vs overclocked speed, the temps are still the same. At Load, it reach over 80C but when i touch the heatsink, NOT hot! only a lil bit warm. what could be the problem? This post has been edited by BlackThyra87: Jan 9 2007, 12:11 AM |

QUOTE(vassalle @ Jan 16 2007, 12:52 PM) A bit out of topic, my AMD64 s754 system needs only 1.5 bars to load into windows lol. its not the problem about speed i think. but it is more to the windows installation (pirated ones includes some optimizations codes, thats why it's fast.)im running a e6300 @ 3.0ghz with Ds3, raptor 36gb and seagate 7200 250gb. Booting is kinda slow for a pretty fast system IMO ~ it takes 10 - 12 loading bars when booting to XP. THe lenovo computer @ my office (p4 3.0 ghz) only needs 6 bar to load into windows. ANyone here having the same problems? Or is it not a problem? Further information: i connect my hard disk to the orange sata ports, which is from the ich8 chip not the jmicron. IIRC, it runs in IDE mode or some sort not AHCI (though i dont know what AHCI is I have two optical drives connected to the PATA connector. Using XP Pro SP2 |

i have problem with stability.
i OC'd to 2.8 (400x7). ran 32m Pi - PASSED. orthos 2 hours passed@2.8 (58c load) but when i play games like dota for less than 30 minutes, it hang then windows got restarted. ] what's goin on here? i believe it's ram problem, not the processor ram +0.4v MCH & FSB = +0.2 VCore = 1.35v This post has been edited by BlackThyra87: Feb 23 2007, 05:35 PM |

QUOTE(radiancephil @ Mar 27 2007, 09:28 PM) Anyone know whats the optimal setting for Gigabyte 965P-DS3 mobo??? What should I enable and what should I disable??? depends on ur target/maximum fsb. i'd say if u wanna past 420fsb mark, u can at least add +0.2 on the vFSB and +0.3v for over 450. u can keep at +0.2v on the vMCH.make sure to disable unnecessary bios features: QUOTE 1. Disable 'AI Tuning' for ASUS, 'C.I.A.2' for Gigabyte 2. Set PCI Express (PCIe) frequency @100Mhz 3. Set PCI frequency @33Mhz 4. Disable Hyperpath 3 (for P5W DH only) 5. Disable any 'spread spectrum' 6. Disable Q-Fan (for ASUS only) 7. Disable 'Limit CPUID Max to 3' 8. Disable any overvoltage protection 9. Disable 'C1E' 10. Disable 'EIST' 11. Disable Virtualization Technology 12. Disable No-Execute Memory Protect 13. Disable any other thing you don't use 14. Do not enable any speed enhancements you see QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Mar 28 2007, 08:20 AM) beats me bro...i don't know the optimum setting also... +0.1v for 400fsb is sufficient already. maybe it's ur memory configuration. determine the best stable setting by playing the ram timing/clocks. Also, Try to add +0.1v on the MCH. Test them at least 2 hours with Orthos. i can't even hit 400FSB mark right now.... did i miss out anything? i did increase 0.1V for my FSB alraedy.. not sure if my system not stable due to proc or FSB... how to verify? if ur using DDR800 memory, should not be a prob hitting 400fsb if u put the memory multiplier to 2.0 (1:1). QUOTE(syapl @ Mar 28 2007, 04:45 PM) increase the vmch is increase the voltage of the 965p chipset, but if increase the vfsb is for which chipset? vMCH is the southbridge and vFSB is the Northbridge. QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Mar 28 2007, 08:37 PM) blackthyra, yes. if u want to test MAX FSB, lower ur cpu multiplier. keep memory multi at 1:1 too unless u are testing max ram mhz on the ram.thanks for the input bro...it's working now and i'm doing prime... i up my vmch and vfsb to +0.2 both and now i can hit 440Mhz... doing prime now... so now it's either choosing high CPU multiplier and get low ram speed... or lower CPU multiplier and increasing FSB + memory speed... any inputs? what cpu model and ram chipset r u using now? |

QUOTE(rockmaniac85 @ Apr 16 2007, 09:58 PM) Not sure but for me, all bios seem give about the same OCability. I see some ppl can achive higher speed @ LOW voltage in F8, but thats not the case for me... QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Apr 18 2007, 09:53 PM) when starting my windows...halfway...with the running bar... it just hang... yes there are several possibilities. maybe u need to add more voltage at vdimm/MCH.can anyoone roughly let me know if it's the FSB too high? or it hangs because of my CPU? or RAM? thanks! try adding some.. how's ur OC result? give us some details. |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Apr 19 2007, 08:11 AM) hmm... currently i'm setting my FSB at 430Mhz... ram timing is 1:1 so it's running at 860Mhz right? and my cpu is at stock voltage 1.35V running at 3.01Ghz (multiplier 7)... if u gonna put past 420fsb, 430 is your case, u should apply at least +0.2 at the fsb/mch. +0.1 only stable at 400fsb i suppose. For memory, its already pass past the 800mhz mark. I see u are using XMS2, any idea what memory chips under the hood? if its Micron/Hynix, u can do 2.1v (+0.3) or else, put 2.2v (+0.4) to maximize stability - this is VERY important.fsb: +0.1V mch: +0.1V ddr2: +0.2V ram timing is 5-5-5-15.... yesterday when running prime... i leave it running over night...but then today wake up...i check...my windows like no display...the screen is black...but the system is like still running... no matter how i shake the mouse or press the key at keyboard.. the monitor still dark...like the display won't come back....haha...i dunno what's wrong...so now i'm running prime again... will update if it's stable....if stable...i'll tkae blackthyra suggestion to increase the mch and fsb...then trying to go for 450Mhz next... Added on April 19, 2007, 8:12 amactually wha'ts the difference between vFSB and vmch? i thought MCH is controlling the FSB as well right? MCH is the bus located between the CPU and NB. Thats why it needs separate voltage channel to work on.. This post has been edited by BlackThyra87: Apr 19 2007, 12:46 PM |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Apr 19 2007, 08:54 PM) wow...not really sure how to check the xms2...but i'm not planning to open up my casing yet... when i get my upgrade additional xms2 ram...i'm gonna take a look at it... from 1.4v drop to 1.280 is normal la.. from whnow moving downwards and starting from 400Mhz FSB first... processor is 3.2Ghz... after 20 minutes...my PC reset... so now i up the vcore from 1.3875V to 1.4V...and then i also increase my ddr2 ram vdimm from 0.2V to 0.3V... vmch and vfsb is still at 0.1V hehe... Added on April 19, 2007, 8:55 pmoh yeah...i notice hor...at my CPUZ... my vcore setting is 1.4V...then at CPUZ is showing 1.344V...that i understand la cause got vdroop... but once i run prime on all 4 cores...my voltage at CPUZ becomes around 1.280V.... is this normal? ur rams is XMS2 DDR2 667 (from ur sig) maybe ur ram cant handle 800MHz (ram multi 2.0) thats why u got reset. If u change to DDR800 rams sure will improve ur OC room so here, maybe ur ram is limiting ur OC... test highest stable ram speed 1st. i think ur cpu no prob liao.. |

QUOTE(kevyeoh @ Apr 19 2007, 11:23 PM) ok...i have a friend using xm2 667Mhz as well...but he's not using 1:1 ratio...maybe higher ratio... i think he did manage to get 1Ghz speed... but then again...it's possible he's lucky to get a good chip right? that only possible if ur using Micron's D9GKX/GMH or Hynix chips..none other than those can achieve such speed. U should be informed enough about this. there are lots of discussion threads about these kind of chips around. Do a seach. |

that would be enough for u, i'd say.
what cpu cooling r u using? at 3ghz, that pretty cool temperature u got there. Now, what kind of ram chip ur using? if u dont know/not sure, i suggest u to test the maximum stable ram speed for ur ram 1st. Most of Corsair's 667 are not capable of running 400mhz even @ 2.3v. So try it 1st read my previous post if u dont know what im talking about. This post has been edited by BlackThyra87: Apr 20 2007, 03:49 AM |
