QUOTE(gsan @ Feb 5 2008, 09:48 AM) No la...... me average overclocker only.....Anyway, gonna get started on DDR2 overclocking guide..... You guys use memset to set timings when OCing the rams in windows? The few times I use memset, the rig will hang, making it easier to set from BIOS and gradual OC in windows.... What do you guys usually do when searching for the best OC with the best timings? |

QUOTE(tyss @ Mar 1 2008, 06:42 AM) I am using p35-ds3 rev2.1 with f12 bios. Do i need to increase my fsb voltage and mch voltage? I am doing 3.51@503X7. I can't OCCT stable beyond 503 but i know my ram can go higher. Is it because of the mention voltage? With such a high FSB speed, you usually need higher vFSB and vMCH voltages..... Did you set them at stock or higher? |

What OC speed is stable at stock vcore? And what settings did you set in BIOS....
Try a lower speed or increase your vcore. What's your vcore in BIOS? Make sure your rams are set to loose timings.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 21 2008, 09:48 AM |

QUOTE(kyLL @ Mar 21 2008, 09:53 AM) i can lower speeds to 333.. but then its 3.0g. Try lower settings then. Maybe start and 360mhz and slowly go up. If you still get errors, try lower than that. However, it is possible that other parts are unstable.... maybe you set lower FSB strap? What mobo are you using? How did you set your ram multiplier/divider/ratio?vcore is 1.15 in bios. stock vcore. ram settings are loose. 5 5 5 15. tried with a pair of 667mhz ram and 800mhz. once i set to 400, then i cant run prime95 anymore. ^ Followed the same settings as per the guide you wrote. heh. (: Alternatively, try increasing your vcore... |

QUOTE(kyLL @ Mar 21 2008, 11:32 AM) I'm using a GA-P35-DS3L. OIC. The DS3L doesn't have any settings for the FSB strap....Which is the setting for FSB Strapping? im a total newb at this. i just followed your guide verbatim. d: Anyway, try lower FSB and increase it slowly to see what is the max limit FSB speed. Then try to increase the vcore and see. Your E8400 is supposedly warrantied until 1.35v vcore.... but keep the core temperature below 60-65'c... |

QUOTE(kyLL @ Mar 22 2008, 01:04 am) coretemp vs realtemp. The reason the difference is 10 degrees is because the Tjunction Max is different. Core temp sets it at 105'c while real temp sets it at 95'c. Why? That's because nobody knows what the actual Tjunction are for these CPUs as Intel doesn't reveal them......o_o a difference of about 10 degrees. thats at vcore 1.25.. Mmm. btw. how come my bios settings is 1.25v but my cpuz shows me less? around 1.8-1.2? The "Distance to TJMax" would be the most accurate temperature indicator, to tell you how far you are from the max core temperature before throttling. You can display that in core temp too. Just go to the settings and select the "Delta to TJMax". CPUz's vcore is lower due to vdrop and vdroop.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Mar 22 2008, 11:47 AM |

I was using the same CPU/mobo when I wrote the guide..... im just getting started to overclocking.. im using Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 mobo + Intel C2D e6750.. i dont really know how to OC my proc.. all i know is EasyTunePro 5 has the feature to OC my proc.. shd i just do it frm there? what are the other things i need to take into consideration? thanks |

QUOTE(amalmuahahax @ Apr 8 2008, 05:53 PM) thanks to kmarc's beginners guide to OCing and also guides from vincentlaw, If you're stressing the proc, make sure you use the "Small FFT - stress CPU" option rather than the "Blend test" in orthos.i finally tested my first OC skills this evening.. the results.. 3.4ghz, 425mhz x 8, 1.375v core temp average at 58c for 3 hours on Orthos critics & comments are welcomed That's a nice OC.... last time, my E6750 was running 24/7 @ 3.5Ghz @ 1.425v (set in Bios).... QUOTE(dmc0105 @ Apr 9 2008, 12:05 PM) You mean using stock HSF? You can overclock but it will be limited by the temperature. Keep you core temperature around 60-65'c.....This post has been edited by kmarc: Apr 9 2008, 06:42 PM |

Unless you are using applications that loads your CPU 100% all the time, that temperature is ok....
For normal usage, the core temperature will probably seldom reach that high.... |

QUOTE(ham_revilo @ Apr 12 2008, 01:34 AM) one thing bout eztune.... i always experience error pop up by eztune even when i didnt oc my pc... everytime startup surely have that kind of error saying GUI MFC fail or something like that... thats y dont really like using it... it gives me a feeling that it is not a stable software... no offense though as it is only my thoughts... QUOTE(tkh_1001 @ Apr 12 2008, 01:47 AM) @revilo Yup. Like tkh_1001 said, the startup problem of easytune5 is probably due to software bug. I too have the same problems on startup.mine used to have that problems too... its not a sign of OC instability, more of a software issue i would say... but if u are in an OCed state and have already run the eztune n suddenly it close by itself after sometime that will really mean ur OC is unstable... more likely to be ur memory i would say The sudden closing of a program, however, is usually due to unstable overclock. It could be any programs, like orthos, prime95, superPI, etc (while you were stressing your rig......) This post has been edited by kmarc: Apr 12 2008, 03:11 AM |

I have used Gigabyte P35-DS3 (rev 1.0 and 2.0) and DFI blood Iron P35 without any problems. Either with the crucial ballistix or crucial 10th anni....
Try using just one stick and see whether the problem still persist.... it could be a defective ram module... This post has been edited by kmarc: Apr 13 2008, 10:23 PM |
