Ok, let say I bought the full manage switch 16 ports installed on the 2nd floor but I have another small 5 port gigabit switch downstair in living room supporting few devices. Do I need to change that switch as well to full manage 5 port switch? Thanks.
*
u needa do it the other way round. un-managed switch first then to managed switch. from the managed switch configure IPTV port to tag to vlan 600, the rest on the port should rest on the default vlan, else just configure the rest of the port as vlan 500. your un-managed now is acting as a trunk port, thought it's not. smile.gif

this is 1 of the many solution...

Yes, I mean 1.8 MBytes /sec. I am wondering is my Uni using fibre optic or not? Can copper line reach such a speed?

When I run some speed tests, the download rate is 1-5mbps , upload rate can reach about 20-30mbps . Yes, I tried uploading files before, it is really fast.

this show that ur uni got a lot of dl and few ul..

I use Line 1 for both my DECT phone and alarm. I use an RJ9 splitter to provide the 2 ports. My Line 2 has no signal too. However, your Line 1 should work with the alarm by itself. How did you test it?
*
yea i did tat too to split the line to many phone, 1 downstair, 1 upstair and 1 inside my room. smile.gif

Just checked with TM and Tel 2 port on the BTU is not active and it is reserved for a 2nd telephone line (if you want).

Like for my case if I want my fax to work, I will have to purchase a splitter and hook both the DECT phone and fax to Tel 1 port.
*
izzit? i never go and test on line2, but i remember someone did post on this thread saying that he is able to receive fax from line2, and the guy who install the unifi for me also said it's used for fax.

hmmm... weird..

so thats mean we dont need a gigabit router?gigabit switch also can?
depend on how u setup the infra.

router -> PC -> Giga sw -> other appliances ( PC will run on 100base to router and 1G base to other appliances)

this setup require the PC to has 2x Gigabit port isn't it?
i'm thinking more like router -> Giga switch -> PC/appliances
*
my bad... yes router -> giga sw -> pc and others appliances

as long as PC and the appliances support gig then it will run on gig... else it will remain 100M, gig sw must be auto-sense.. or set the port speed manually, just in case something happen for auto sense.

Finally can solve this problem...

just add no cdp enable at dialer interface and change the lan network to 192.168.1.0 network (previously 192.168.0.0)

dunno why lan network affect the thing but it something with tm i think.

Now i want to use dlink as a dump AP. Anyone manage to configure it as a dump AP??
*
192.168.0.0 and 192.168.1.0 is a big different! i dont think TM got anything to do with it. I am not even using 192 ip for my LAN smile.gif

flash dlink with their stock (from Dlink) and set it as bridge/AP mode, if any. Sorry I am not sure how the stock AP looks like, but you can give a try. Or maybe flash it with custom DDRWT for a more stable signal.

Powered on my IPTV STB, downloaded a new update and now I'm watching the new channels. Although the Nat Geo Adventure channel is in HD, the quality is just disappointing. Just now a program wasn't even in full screen. sweat.gif

But I must say the MTVN in HD is quite good, maybe because Astro still doesn't have any HD channel for MTV. laugh.gif

are those free channel or paid?

QUOTE(MGM @ Jun 1 2011, 12:34 PM)
I am a new UNIFI user using the Huawei HG850a Gpon terminal and Dlink 615 router. Need some advice on the usage of the unused ports.
HUAWEI
======
How to use the 3 unused LAN ports on the HG850a for wired PC? Connected to PC but can't access.

What is the use of the second RJ11 port? Doesn't seems to work for phone connection.
Would like to add a fax machine on the second line.

DLINK
=====
How to use the USB port on the DLink615 for shared printer?
Is it true that the 15m fibre cable from FTB to BTU and the 15m RJ45 cable from BTU to RG are free ? I think i have been short changed.

For a double storey link house would it be better to install both the Huawei850a and the Dlink615 on the ground floor where most internet accesses are done ?

Thanks in advance.
*
u can only used port 1 which act as a trunk port that transport vlan 500 and vlan 600 to DLINK, the rest of the port is not configured, hence it's unusable. You can only used the port from dlink (port 1-3) to connect to all your network appliances. Second RJ11 is used as fax, and some said as 2nd line, hence you can't use it for phone.

USB port for DLINK manual to use share printer i think is on the CD.
i only know 15M fiber from FTB to BTU is free, as from RJ45 i have no idea as i personally pulled all the RJ45 myself to welcome the UNIFI, as i don't trust TM workmanship. I got no experience in fiber so no choice i need the TM guy to do it. tongue.gif

I don think so. The additional charge is because of install at Upper floor is not standard practice according to the contractor
*
i just redirect the fiber to upper floor myself

they do everything at ground floor and i find it much more better the fiber to be placed upstair...

the lenght to upper floor is shorter then my ground floor

Are we able to reconfigure HuaweiHG850a so that the 3 LAN ports can be connected to network appliances? Anybody here has used the second port for fax machine?

Anybody here has used the USB Port on the DLink615 for shared printer?

Using TM custom hardware, won't it be better to install them on the ground floor, so that the whole house will get better coverage?
*
what i meant is my BTU is located upstair and my DLINK is located downstair..

Hi,

I want to purchase some channels in IPTV but the PIN code is invalid. I have tried all the common codes eg: 123456. 11111. 012345 etc but no success. May I know anyone experience this and how to solve?

Can I use normal phone to connect to the BTU?

Thanks
*
it's either the password you provide them during the registration or the password they gave u during the installation.

it's the same password for YourUsername@iptv

yes, u can use normal phone for BTU's line1, i have split it out and connected to 3 phones. smile.gif
