No, it was not so smooth as I think. I started to work after my final exam in April 2009. I was too excited to apply for PR then as I heard from many said that Msian can obtain PR easily, even with less than 6 months of working experiences (that was b4 Spore population hit 5 millions in August 2009). For those applied after June 2009, I hardly heard good news.

1st Time
29 Aug 2009 => Got rejected on 27 Nov 2009  heart-broken

2nd Time
19 Jun 2010 => Got rejected on 5 Dec 2010  heart-broken again, very sad
Appealed on Jan 2011 => ....................
Received approval letter just now, finally 

I appealed for my second time PR application. 

Appeal: Online booking for an appointment, submit appeal letter together with supporting documents (salary increment letter...).
Re-apply: Online booking for an appointment, submit all documents, just like the first application.

Sounds like the guy in mgt who needs to approve your hiring is not as keen as the guy who is very keen to hire you.

IMHO, no point calling again. The guy who wants to hire you obviously hit a road block (best case) or got shot down (worst case). All you can do is wait and hope that the guy who wants you is powerful or persuasive enough to overcome the road block. They need time to work it to a conclusion.

In the meantime, keep looking for another opportunity.

Your friends have got it right, imho. By entering anything besides zero, you are declaring that you have earned income in Malaysia (which if you are working in Singapore, your income is earned outside Malaysia). That's the simple truth.

If you declare you have income earned in Malaysia and tick "individu tidak bermastautin" - all you've done is say that you're not a tax resident (ie. was not in Malaysia for >182 days) but still managed to earn income in Malaysia. You will get taxed.

Just call MOM or ICA or both.

R u certain?...because my GF who still holds EP still needs to go thru the normal Q. When we ask the immigration officer, the officer replied that she'll need to go thru the normal Q...can't go for the electronic cleareance without that access card

Hi All, I was wondering whether there is anybody who've heard of cases like this and how was the matter resolved.

1.) Tenancy agreement was signed with the landlord and I was supposed to move in 30th April 2011. Deposit of 1 month rental was given.
2.) On 28th April, the landlord backed out and cited ill family members as an issue and how he wanted to use the room for his ill family member.
3.) Fortunately, I managed to find another place to stay on 30th April 2011 itself and my company allowed me to stay at the corporate hotel in the meantime.
4.) The 1st landlord till today has been fobbing me, his agent and my agent off with excuses that he is in tight financial constraints and that he requires more time to return my deposit and his agent's commision fees.
5.) Yesterday, my agent, the landlord's agent and myself went to the police station to lodge a police report. According to the police, I should to to the Small Claims Court to resolve this issue.
6.) After that, we went to the 1st landlord's place and knocked on his door for 1/2 hour as we saw him hiding inside his house with all his windows open but he refused to see us.

I'll look into the Small Claims court but I'll like your opinions.

P.S Last week was my 1st week in Singapore and I already kena conned....... Looking on the bright side, at least I learn this lesson quickly.

Hi, just to ask if anyone here using starhub home broadband service? Recerntly my internet coneection is not stable and called starhub centre to check. They suspect the modem is faulty and will send technician to come over to check again. I asked the customer service ppl if the modem is faulty, can i get one from IT shop or somewhere online to replace it. He said cannot be done because my service is tag to the modem registered under my name so if i would to get an used 1 the used modem probably would already tagged to the seller's name so must be purchased from Starhub itself. I ask if i can purchase from the seller and change the modem to my name and he said cannot. There is no way to do so..

Just to verify if that is the real case?

I asked him how much they sell and he said around 90buck. wah lao eh, i can get an used 1 for only 20buck +/- and they charge me 90buck.

Guys quick ques about cellphones. Malaysia you can convert a prepaid line to postpaid and keep same number. Singapore telcos also same? Any recommendation for provider? Will be in temporary accomodation for a couple of weeks.

Yes...I agree it is hard to apply for M'sian PR.
Why? Cause there is no system.
My colleague has failed in his countless attempts to apply for M'sian PR.
Imagine this...the wife is Malaysian, the kids is Malaysian...yet him (the husband and father of the kids) needs to apply for Visa just to go Malaysia.
If we are to say about buying PRship...I believe we can buy M'sian PRship at a "cheaper" price than 2mil.

i heard those shipyard only offer high salary with up to 10 month bonus annually. Other jobs, erm........ 5 yrs experience around 3.5k sgd for a engineer is common. If u have bus driving license, u can earn more than everyone initially.

If I havent worked in SG for few years and I want to renew my PR, will it be possible? I was transferred to another country by my company, so it's not like I left SG on purpose.

Can I still renew the PR even if I am not working in SG at the time of renewal application?

I also heard some rumours that government is forcing PRs to convert to citizen such as rejecting the PR renewal. Is this true?

Hi all, IT Show is coming soon and I'm planning to apply for broadband. Have some questions here regarding which broadband should I choose. Currently I'm using my 3G tethering and at times it is pretty slow & unstable...
I need a stable connection as I'll mainly use it for VPN access. Should I go for cable or mobile broadband? Need suggestions for budget broadband below $50/month. Are all broadband subscriptions come with contract?

By the way, the room I'm currently staying has a Starhub TV port, if I apply for Starhub cable modem, can I apply it without going through my house owner?
