Thanks wseng. I checked Starhub Broadband but don't seem there's any plan at price of $22 (correct me if I missed it). Probably going to check this week IT show to see if there's any good deal...
But the thing I dont like is the contract thingy... seems like in SG we cannot escape from being contracted to telco...

Added on June 6, 2011, 1:38 amBy the way, if I move to other place can I port the line too?
*
They do have promos every now and then.. Normal price for 2mbps should be around SGD 30.. so if u sign up in roadshows or IT shows. they will give your special promo package normally.

Yes.. contract it is.. so have to bear at least for 2 years. and then new contract comes again .. so everytime its 2 years..

Moving places is fine. Just called them up to tell you've changed address. They need to activate your account for the new place. But do make sure u have a SCV, TV antenna port for Starhub.

One of the issue I'm taking up starhub is because wherever u move they should have TV line. but not the case with Telephone line. So it's a bit troublesome la.

Got such service at $ changer?
Whr is it?

most money changer do remittance.. and most of the time their rates are much better than transferring using bank .

Remittance will deposit in your money the next day. Very fast and efficient. so far no problem for me.
I do mostly in Jurong Point. Name is Raffles Exchange.

Just some additional info on travelling by taxi :

It's normally faster to SMS a taxi then to call the taxi. If you have the taxi app. Then it should do the job also.

How to sms a taxi :
"Book (postal code/building name/location) #(waiting location)"

Ex :
Book ION Orchard #Taxi stand

send to 71222. That's for Comfort Taxi.. I think its the same case with others also.

In any case you can't manage to call a cab or sms. it's always better to call radio taxis.. I've tried this, during peak hours when u can't get a cab with Comfort / City cab. I will call Taman Jurong Radio Taxi : 62654553

Taman Jurong is especially good in Tuas areas during 5pm peak hours.

I remember previously someone mentioned that when we changed our passport, we should go and update our details so that we can continue using the fingerprint scan at immigration checkpoint.

How do we actually go about doing it ? need to get back to the Riverwalk EP centre ? The immigration officer asks my wife to just do it online .. ? hmmm

Btw, if anyone's interested in the Samsung Galaxy S II... Singapore sucks. No contract price here is $998... but only RM2090 in KL (Samsung shop) and HK$5300 in HK (Fortress).

When the official launch in SG ?? Already announced ?

Would like to know the usual availability of Sunday afternoon/evening's bus from KL to Singapore. Are they usually sold out?

I've got myself an interview on coming Monday. Most prob taking Sunday evening bus to Singapore.
*
if no choice.. last option still can try starmart express. Counter and boarding at times square. Bus departs around sunday midnite.. reach sG early morning around 5am.
Normally they will have place.

Wondering if its possible for a foreigner to work in singapore for an extended amount of time without he/she applying a permit since i have an associate from denmark and he has to come to singapore for a project and the duration of his stay is around 4-5 months and his company does not have a regional branch in singapore.
*
Should be possible to apply for Employment pass with proper documents and stuffs..
I've seen many cases of those ship crews or ship support crews holding employment pass when they are here in singapore for jobs ranging from months to years in duration..

eh guys, buy low-end phone for sister, better to buy here or in KL? i sort of remember SG supposed to be cheaper cos no import duty (but offset by GST?), but it's been ages since I bought a low-end handset.

Also ... us wp/sp/ep holders still can get GST refund at airport?
*
Don't think mobile phones are cheaper here anymore.. Almost most electronic items I surveyed are more expensive in SG. Except for mobile phone with plans included. In certain times LCD TV could be cheaper and newer release.

Where is the largest bookstore in Singapore? I'm looking for specific profession related books but most bookstores are small and don't have what I want.
*
can try kinokuniya in Takashimaya... It's known for having a large variety of books..

Sounds like a chinaman audit firm, salary wise ranging from $1800 to $2400 for semi senior.

Just beware that some of these firms, you might need to give 6 mths of termination notice upon resignation.

This happen to 2 of my frens which they 1st came to SG to work few years ago.
*
I also get a strange set of T & C. One of them, "Upon resignation, we are not allowed to work for competitor company / industry for a year"...

So apparently I cannot do anything with useful effect after resign .. Change industry directly..
