Hi bros n sis.. My work permit application has received by MOM but now i need to go for medical checkup before the final approval.

Normally how long it takes for the medical checkup report to complete? And anyone knows where can i do such checkup around AMK area?

Thanks a lot.
*
The medical checkup would include your blood report n that mini chest x-ray right? Will probably take 1 working day normally

Aiyoyo......like that oso lazy to search. doh.gif You can easily acquire that information from MOM's website.

Anyway, I'm in the mood to spoon feed you this time.

Here you go:

You know unlike in Malaysia, in Singapore....everything/rules/requirements/regulations ARE ALL Stated....so that u dont have an excuse to say u dont know this or dont know that....or a loophole. Even if there's a loophole...it will be quickly covered up!!

how many ppl were there and did the bus stop frequently?
ermm.. i paid i think rm36, at the counter i believe rm32... but i got on the bus straight away... lol

ask how are you lor... marcus is going to the states soon...
*
Yes...night owl or Night rider are for service routes are outside the normal bus operating AND MRT operating hours. Else would have make more sense to the MRT....since MRT would be still faster.

I think it depends on when you receive the bill from IRD.  I checked with them and they will start sending out the bill from June to September.  Alternatively, can we walk in to the Income tax Dept and pay them there and then?  Just curious, have not paid tax before in SG.  First time doing it.
*
In the letter of income tax..its stated clearly when/how u can pay your taxes...u do it GIRO...monthly basis like installments or u can pay via NETS...at SingPost or those SAM machines and i think even AXS machines

try look for 1000 employees from Malaysia and see what they'd tell you if you ask them this

How's life in Singapoor, any discrimination?

Shame on you folk, lies and tales? that's the fact that you have to accept, don't blind yourself with seng dollar got me?
*
I dont feel that they're discriminating me at all HONESTLY......been here for around 4years++....maybe u just having a sore eye or red eye....
I have nothing against u buddy....just that your posts arent really welcome here...unless u can say that u have worked n stayed in Singapore before...even that if you do get discriminated by them...its probably you're the one causing them to do that to u

QUOTE(stereokumonomu @ Jun 7 2011, 12:23 AM)
yay, i finally found a place to rent, its either in tanjong pagar or tampines,

im working in tanjong pagar tho, axa tower, not sure which to pick, anyone can help me with the pros and cons?

tanjong pagar = $1k
+very convenient, everything is around
+walking distance to office
+let me sleep a bit more in the morning
+owner allow friends to come along
+light cooking
+aircon
+everything is provided, tv, internet, fridge, washer, dryer, f/furnished
+private owner, no agent fee
+owner friendly, (first impressions count)
-hurt a lot on first deposit, about $2k+ iinm
-will not left much amount of saving
-sometimes need to behave or on curfew since owner got little daughter
-basically the negative side is only on money

tampines =$650
+this is cheap
+able to save more money
+can cook whatever
+wireless internet
+fridge, washer, dryer
+can enjoy shopping later on
+MRT will be near to Changi, easier flight, but im not really a frequent flyers,
-a bit far from MRT, 20 minutes walking, but accessible by bus
-a bit far from convenient store, some even open till 10pm only
-+its a flat, so friendly neighborhood, quite crowdy, acceptable
-need to pay agent fee half the rent price
-house owner not really 'that' friendly, so im gonna feel weird around a bit
those are some of the pros and cons i listed out, will be staying for 6-7months only, hopefully fellow forumers can help me to pick.

money first, or convenient the best? will be working weekdays 9am-6pm tho
*
Tanjong Pagar area...will be quite deserted during the nights u know? Its considered CBD area...shops will be closed. Deserted basically.
I would suggest if possible to look for other areas nearer...maybe around Queenstown/Redhill/Tiong Bahru? By staying over these areas. You can 'bypass' Raffles/City Hall MRT interchanges. Rental wise will range.

sure cannot meh ? i thought dun declare then there wont find out right.
i also planning lah but for example of a modest calculation, a 300k hdb with 80% loan =  60k dpayment + 10k cov = still need 70k upfront
*
10k COV....I think its still 20k ler...

My rough calculation would be easily close to 100k CASH upfront ler
300k 80% loan == 60k upfront which max 15% u can use your CPF to pay, but if you dont have..then its all cash..the balance 5% must be cash
then + 20k COV then add the fees/misc/taxes/stamping another 10k that brings u close to 90k liao..not including minor renovation

To me, no point settle down here. Things here getting more and more expensive and inflation is getting higher every year. Although M'sia is the same, but by virtue of the superior SGD conversion rate will mitigate inflation rate if i convert SGD to RM.

I come here work 10-15 years, earn my SGD and built up my property portfolio in M'sia. Once i hit 45, go back to M'sia and retire like in Melaka or something. Take it easy , slow paced life with steady stream of rental income. That's what u call LIFE!
*
true...but have u thought about your future kids? That's if u plan to have kids...

"Plan" to get married at age 40. Unless there is "accident"
Like chinese saying (direct translation) " man age 40 =  flower, women age 40 = %&$% (btw, this is chinese saying not mine) LOL!

Anyhow kids can study in international school in M'sia.
We can stay in gated and guarded community which mitigates the security risk
*
how far can it take your kids.....put them overseas when they're in college/uni?then hopefully they can get a job n stay on there overseas when they graduate?..also not only talking about security risk only..its EVERYTHING in life...

Ok I'm a few pages late, but just wanted to weigh in on the 3G data coverage. I'm on starhub green (prepaid), buying 7-day 1.5gig plans at $7 per week.

What I notice is that in high density areas like malls, etc, the 3G speed is atrocious. Even though signal strength is 4- or 5- bars, i get slow speeds, bad latency, etc.
*
jammed.....its like got coverage but no network for GSM voice....same goes for the 3G.....overcrowded

Yes. That's the idea.
What's "everything in life" to you is only "a part of life" for someone else. Unless you define what's EVERYTHING.
Besides Malaysia is great place to live if you have money. More so than Singapore. I mean can u bribe the cops is singapore? no. Can you commit murder and pay yrself out of the impending court case in SG? no. Can you blatantly cheat the gov on taxes in SG? no.
So what's everthing?
*
I'm saying for a normal citizen like u n me....unless u prefer to head into that direction of doing evil....again its how do u define a great place. Each condition or environment has its pros n cons...eg.

Singapore
Pros: Good public transport system, don't need to own a car
Cons: No privacy to a certain extend taking public transport

Malaysia
Pros: Everyone drives/owns a car/bike. Therefore got privacy
Cons: You HAVE to own/drive a car...because public transport isn't good.

So it depends on individual, how would u weight the pros and cons.

ALL my outstation classmates at Taylor's College were depressed, in that's the definition of depression. All of us were not from KL, just finished SPM, never been away from home before... suddenly have to rent a little room (a couple of us even did a Harry Potter ie. rented the utility cupboard underneath the staircase), cook/buy our own meals, find our own way to school, manage our own budget, organise our own lives etc... basically take care of ourselves.

That my friend, is called growing up.
*
Have to agree with u on that seantang....u have to take care of yourself.

*
still that high meh?thought COV should be around 25k liao

The $8k ceiling is for primary market only rite?

For secondary market u nid a married PR or a citizen above 35yrs old can buy already.
Do correct me if Im wrong.

Added on June 20, 2011, 8:54 pm

I beliv if you can pay for the rental, u definitely can pay for the installment.
*
For primary market...need to be singaporean only then eligible else with a SGD8k ceiling income, which might be increase to SGD10k celing. For us PR we have to go for resale..and its with resale this stupid CoV comes into play.....

The good thing is that the monthly installments can be deducted from your CPF. So rather than paying rental with our cold hard cash, it really makes more sense to own one and make the CPF pay for the monthly installment since this amount cannot be touch in that sense

Yes i think the company will provide u with a letter to state that u can stay in Singapore for 1 month. You will also be given that white card to fill up as well.
