Why barbell ? Couldnt he also use heavier dumbbell

Its easier to balance heavier weights on a barbell compared to a dumbbell. weights like 35kg on one hand is difficult to balance and would be prone for injuries.

Hi.

I have a couple of 5kg dumbells.
Using it for bench press.

Started with 4 sets x 25 reps.
Now, 2 sets x 50reps (half dead  tongue.gif )

Is it ok?
PS: No budget to buy barbell. But since I got dumbells...no need barbell correct? Maybe not yet.

its ok but its too light. and too many reps.

muscle growth is dependent of how much resistance you put to your body.
if you can do more than 20 reps, your body thinks this is too easy, therefore current muscles on your body is sufficient so don't expect any significant growth.

Yeah , barbell weight is spread across both your hands hence requiring less balancing ..

I think barbell too makes it move even

I have to disagree, barbell and dumbbell are both beneficial. No one asking the guy to bench press 35kg db from 5kg. I use 35kg db and i dont have stability issues. If u slowly work ur way up, those issues should not arise.

Actually 75lbs db which is 34.1kg haha, but u getthe drift, only 5 atm so what im doing is 5 reps then drop set to 50lbs . Hoping for a 1 rep increase every week or 2. But not that strong la, back when i was in aus my mates i train with was using 45kg and 50 kg db. Haha. Might try upy volume n decrease weights if i hit a plateau. Around 30kg db, very hard for me to increase weight , about 2 months to reach 32.5 and another 2-3 months to reach 35
