Wah, thanks girls...so many replies already!

Yeah, I have the same feeling too...I think Longchamp is one of the more affordable European brands, but I don't think it's that great though. Now that I've gotten the responses here, even more so I don't think I'll like it.

I realised that I don't like Dior and Celine eventhough they're luxury brands...maybe cuz the designs are not so outstanding?
I think we're in some ways suckers for classic LVs, Guccis and Burberrys...so we are not so open to others as much.
On a side note, I think Gucci's getthing boring whistling.gif

Btw, I think Burberry's not as lower grade as some said it...their stuffs are pretty as expensive as Gucci and LV too sweat.gif

Having said all that, it's also true that we should get bags that we're happy with on the design, quality, etc. and it doesn't need to be branded =)

yes, i didn't know that people in Malaysia thinks that burberry is of lower grade than LV and Gucci
anyway, i like burberry's design much more than LV or Gucci
LV is kind of too mature for me
if only i can afford one tongue.gif

Hi,
It's not true that LV bags are the most expensive. I believe the top of range bag is probably the Hermes Birkin.

I find LV bags too common these days; rather carry my D&G bag instead tongue.gif But I also notice Gucci's becoming v common too. Coach pulak, tak payah cakap lah

well then I'm mistaken about LV vs Hermes ... but either way, I don't see what the point of carrying such brand names around is since it only serves (in my opinion) to advertise the fact that you have a lot of money.

It's like waving a banner that says COME ROB ME

Agree, unless the bag is limited edition, I will buy.
No point buying something expensive where some other ppl is holding it as well.

My friends have this bags and they really like it but for me it is a plain bag that anyone make. I think it is expensive because of how it became popular. Don't get me wrong this is just my own preference. There are a lot more plain bags that are really nice.

Longchamp bags can be customized. Thats one of their selling points. Material feels like nylon to me, but meh, im a guy so dont bash me please =)

And from a guy's point of view, LV is getting...should I say common.

Maybe you'll like Aigner

Can't deny that Hermes will be at the top of the luxury bags when it comes to this.
But I don't like the style and wouldn't get one even if I had the money.

Like spunkberry said, it would be inviting people to come rob us.

If we are talking about snatch thefts, I think anybody has the same probability of getting robbed lor. Unless you are referring to a planned robbery.

Yeah, showing the social status is prolly that main driving factor in getting them. Good design is secondary, really, lol...it just helps to make it easier to decide on getting the bags.

I guess some other brands are not so obviously popular despite having the heavy price tag cuz not many people can recognise the designs (aside that it's not affordable tongue.gif), so those who wants to show off, often will opt for the classic luxury brands that everyone can identify the moment they see it.

In Europe Longchamp is a Luxury Brand, now revived by Kate Moss.
In US Coach is a departmental store brand. Now all Coachs r made in China.

Longchamp r very pricey, La Pliage is an affordable range for the masses.
If u go to Paris in Spring, u will see so many ppl. carrying La Pliage. The colorfull bags make it like looking @ a sea of rainbow.

i agree with you...

it is actually not fair to compare them with different ranges of products... how can you compare the cheapest range from longchamp with the highest range in hermes? it's an appropriate comparison i would say...

longchamp la pliage is cheap is because it is not even leather, where you compare hermes birkin that probably made out of crocodile skin PLUS diamonds... how to compare like that? longchamp has expensive LEATHER products too...

also, if you are talking about LV about the most common MONOGRAM CANVAS, then sadly but true that it is not made out of leather, but CANVAS...

you also cant compare bags with DIAMONDS lar, RUBY lar, SHARK SKIN lar, OSTRICH lar with just an ordinary bag...

This is very strange.. none of you ladies really interested in Dior and Chanel? Prada? Fendi? Maybe a little D&G?

It seems extremely strange to me, but it seems Malaysian ladies will only settle for these staples

1. LV
2. Coach
3. Burberry

Don't you feel that you want something new? It puzzles me so..
My friend asked me wtf was a Dior and I was like ._."

i brought longchamp b4 for my ex dammit at first i really thought it cost only 150 at most but hell 400-500 for it
whether its leather or not leather..handbags is important for business/working social activities but as a student
ure trying to advertise i ada money for stuff that u dun needed keh?
some ppl got 10 branded bags and claims 1 lv bag can last 10 yrs
not many do use it even for a yr
business personnel is acceptable for branded but for student its nonsense

i think the reason being is our ladiess here are young... LV, COACH and BURBERRY bags are toward younger designs and new designs... where DIOR PRADA AND FENDI their designs are more boring and i would say that they are not so affordable than the 3 above... a very simple one can cost RM5k+ while the 3 brands above can get at RM2k+... where D&G is sort of a departmental store brand where it is not so a luxury brand...

Most bought the monogram version for status conscious, easily identify even fr a distance. The mentality is if I am going to pay for a expensive bag, I want to everyone to know..
