Hi guys. Do u have problems with the phone losing signal reception?
My sister, dad and a few of our friends are having the problem. They are using Sony phones, Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy Y. For example, when the phone is in 3G mode (WCDMA), when you go to a place with poor 3G signal, it'll drop the 3G signal but it doesn't connect on 2G. End up you don't get any signal...aka no phone calls. Sometimes need to put it in Airplane mode and back or even restart the phone to recover the cellular signal. Even if it's permanently set to 2G mode (GSM), the same thing can happen if you go to a place with poor signal coverage, then go back to a place with coverage. These Android phones cannot get back the cell signal....aka no phone calls. Is this a common issue that happens to all the Android phones? Now, my dad is really not happy with Samsung cos many people that I know confess that they have that problem. How about other manufacturers like Huawei? Perhaps Huawei will be better because it's popular for its reliable 3G modem. I haven't tried the new Nokia Lumia series...so no comment on WP8 signal reception quality. My iPhone 3GS does not have that problem too. Any feedback and comments are greatly appreciated. |

QUOTE(fisherman10 @ Feb 3 2013, 05:34 PM) In android, you dont need to close apps. Just press the HOME button when you're dont with that app. Android will autoclose them when it needs more space in the RAM. and you do not need to use those task killers as well. Dont. Just dont. set to 2G+3G. Weird thing is sometimes it cannot recover back to 2G mode. Therefore totally no signal. Is it set to 2G + 3G mode? not just 3G only but both. It should auto switch in that case. |

I notice that wifi proxy only works for browser. How to make the proxy setting universal so that all my apps also connect via the proxy? I prefer non-root method if possible.
FYI, my office internet requires a http proxy address with the port number. |

I'm connecting my phone to the pc and using USB internet tethering.
My utorrent (on my pc) is telling me: "A firewall/router is limiting your network traffic. You need to open up a port so others can connect to you." How do I do port forwarding when using an android device's usb internet tethering? |

I've used Titanium Backup (free version) to uninstall some bloatware from my rooted phone. After uninstall, the free space remaining is still the same (even after phone restart).
Why? |

for Samsung, Whenever I connect the phone to my pc via USB, I need to manually select the file transfer option on the phone before my pc can see it. Is there anyway to permanently set MTP USB file transfer as the default setting?
