Hi guys. I have a friend who is intending to get her first credit cards and she has decided Maybank is her bank of choice. She earns approximately RM 3,500 monthly.

She has been using Amex Personal (Green) Charge Card all this while and intends to get credit cards now to allow flexibility in repayment.

Question is, should she get:

1. Maybankard 2 Combo of Gold Visa & Amex

or

2. Maybank Visa Gold Card & Amex Gold Credit Card

Which is wiser you think? Points wise. She insists on having one Amex credit card and one Visa credit card and intends to maximize her points earnings.

I have a question:

When one applies for credit card from Standard Chartered and received a call from Standard Chartered asking them to read out their IC number, office address etc does that mean the application will get approved for sure or this is just a battle won halfway per say? Just curious.

Hi bro rockefeller ... long time no see.

If this happens ... means the bank is merely confirming the information that is in the application form.
It does not mean the application is approved nor not approved.

out liao
minimum income annual is 24k
    * The minimum income eligibility for new credit card holders is set at RM24,000 per annum;
    * For cardholders earning RM36,000 per annum and less, the following would be applicable:
o Cardholders can only hold credit cards from a maximum of two issuers.
+ Existing cardholders who currently hold credit cards from more than two issuers are given up to the end of 2011 to select their preferred issuers. Cardholders will also be given at least two years to service their outstanding credit card debt for the credit cards that have been cancelled for the purpose of meeting this requirement.
o The maximum credit limit extended to a cardholder shall not exceed two times their monthly income per issuer.
+ For existing cardholders, whose credit card outstanding balance exceeds the maximum credit limit, a grace period of two years will be given to them to meet with the new requirement.

Added on March 18, 2011, 12:18 pmmeans cc issuers will now be dealing with 'higher quality' customers

I'm with BNM on this. I applaud their move to curb consumers especially from lower income group from spending beyond their means.
