QUOTE(tzeling @ Mar 11 2011, 11:34 AM) The 1st yr annual waived is printed on the app form but nothing on the GST. So, I'll be checking on it when I got my card approved. If GST is not waived then I'm gonna cancel the card and complain that staff. This staff is fr HSBC KL so I don't get to meet her. Anyway, I've met an HSBC agent sumwhr end of Dec in Sarawak, telling me HSBC amanah can b used every where even at non-halal place and this policy just changed one...But I was thinking impossible so I called the CS in Sarawak for clarification and she say no such thing. Agents really not trustworthy, lie a lot just to get ppl to sign up, sigh. Anyway, thanks for reminding me bt the safety precaution! Hi there, recently I went to enquire abt the HSBC Amanah credit card. From what I was told, the GST remains, even on first year. Only the annual fee is waived (first year). For the subsequent years, the annual fee is waived subject to min 12 swipes/year. According to the CS, now the policy had changed and it can be used for non-halal transactions (such as non-halal section in supermarkets, alcohol etc) except gambling purposes (like casinos).

QUOTE(David83 @ Mar 27 2011, 10:19 PM) I see. They don't want to absorb the Visa fee of 3%. Does this apply for all the credit card terminals? How do we know if it the merchant will absorb or charge us the Visa/Master/Amex fee? Is it automatically understood that if the merchant did not say anything, it means they'll absorb it? Also, if only the 'Visa' sign is available in the shop, does it mean that if we use cards other than Visa, we will have to pay for the extra charges? (Sorry, still new in cc, so I'm not familiar with all the little hidden stuffs ) Thank you~

QUOTE(David83 @ Mar 27 2011, 10:56 PM) Please refer to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1803385The merchant will notify you upfront if they're going to charge you. Otherwise, if they did notify; meaning they'll just absorb it. QUOTE(hye @ Mar 27 2011, 11:00 PM) And the reason you will never see this "extras" is because it is illegal for the merchant to do so under VISA/Mastercard regulations. The choice of accepting this extra is all depends on the consumer. Not really a Malaysian problem coz there are many countries in the world where the local merchant have this practice. (e.g. Japan ... yes although it is surprising) Ok, noted. Thanks

Hi there, I encountered this situation while shopping yesterday. The cashier issues a written-receipt (instead of printed one) and I paid it with my credit card. The cashier wrote the credit card number on the receipt with the 3 digit-number at the back. Is this normal? Also, can another person (non-cardholder) buys something with the information of your card (such as credit card number and the 3-digit number) without the physical card itself? Just some queries thoughts on card security that came to my mind This post has been edited by fuu: May 2 2011, 01:45 AM

QUOTE(erry- @ May 2 2011, 01:49 AM) u pay with ur credit card, means swipe/slot at the terminal? if yes then the cashier can just staple merchant copy slip with the receipt! the cashier can wrote the card info, but should not wrote the 3 digit number at the back. yes another person CAN buys something with the information on your card, usually online. but they still need expiry date. they CANNOT if ur card have mastercard securecode or verified by visa - unless they know the password? Thanks for the speedy reply. Was getting a bit worried about that Yes, the card was swipe at the terminal. But the cashier did not key in the cash machine (something about the promotion code not in the system), hence the written receipt. I will be take note of this in the future. Thanks for the heads up
