Ronnie,

I guess you had been using MBB2Amex and OCBC Ti at the following merchants:
Giant Kinrara and Puteri
Jusco IOI
Tesco Puchong
Carrefour Puchong
Esso and Mobile IOI

May I know is MBB2Amex accepted at these merchants ?
OCBC Ti give 5% or 1% at these merchant ?

Thank you.

I was in Econsave just now.
Since I've got free talktime minutes, without thinking much, I called up OCBC CS and asked whether this Econsave outlet in particular got 5% cashback or not. He put me on hold for about 15 seconds and came back to me giving affirmative answer.

What I want to say is, CS can search a particular merchant and verify if OCBC Titanium offers 5% cashback for matching certain MCC codes specified by the bank. So next time when you are not sure your purchase entitled to 1% or 5% cashback, you may ask CS, but no guaranteed answer.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Feb 28 2011, 12:02 AM)
Giant Kinrara and Puteri - 5%
Jusco IOI - 1%
Tesco Puchong - 5%
Carrefour Puchong - 5%
Esso/Mobil IOI -5% (I pump at Petronas)

AMEX is accepted in all the above merchant outlets.
*
I did ask OCBC CS pertaining to the merchants above but they said they can't say for sure. The best person is to ask is ronnie because he is Puchong lang who owns both MBB2amex and OCBC Ti.
Thank you ronnie.

You can always buy vouchers form Jusco or Isetan smile.gif

Added on March 2, 2011, 11:29 amWe need to buy RM90 voucher for 10 swipes & RM50 voucher for 2 swipes to maximise the 12% Public Bank cashback ;-)

Good info ronnie rclxms.gif Never thought of this trick.

That lead me to thinking if I can also max up my monthly cap on weekend 5% for MBB2amex and OCBC Ti ?

But the Jusco staff will be wondering what are you trying to do... brows.gif

Not much ma RM1000 only wat ? But I will go for Giant or Tesco vouchers because the Jusco grocery department is slightly more expensive. . Last time I wallop RM2000+ worth of Jusco voucher at 15% off from forumer here and finished it off within 2 moths for grocery spending.
I bought 2kg Milo refill pack from the era of RM19 to now RM29.90 sweat.gif....got to find whatever means to hedge against inflation as best as I can.

Unlimited free IBG sounds good to me.
Does HSBC Premier and Advance pays good interest ? or any other banks offer unlimited free IBG with reasonable good deposit rate ?

Personally, I opened a OCBC iQ Basic account which provides 5 FREE IBG transactions per month
Maintain account balance of  RM500 per month to avoid RM10 monthly charge.

Asa Hye and Gen-X said, the interest given to HSBC accounts is very low. The other account that offers free IBG is AmBank Amstar Extreme. Interest is very high too especially for a current account.

Interesting... Googling now. Thanks.

I have a complicated situation here and need CC sifu opinions.

I charged my CC for an investment scheme last month but 2 days later I changed my decision and returned to their office to canceled the investment under the 10 days cooling off period terms as stipulated in the investment prospectus. I was told that they have done the settlement and their can't void the transaction and they will make a full refund to back to my CC a week later. Now that the amt had been fully refunded but the co write to me that they want me to pay for the merchant discount chargers amounting to few hundred rinngit.

I wasn't given any rebate from my CC bank because of the refund and I wonder the merchant indeed incurring any merchant discount chargers in refund cases ?

BTW, if I remember correctly, Wawasan Sentosa's rate for NT$ was 10.75 on 27/2/2011 and 10.70 on 3/3/2011 when I did check. It is 10.67 as of today (9/3/2011). US$ and NT$ seemed to be going down during my travel period. Anyway, I exchanged RM for US$ currency notes in Malaysia (at 3.040 on 27/2/2011 (3.030 today)) and then changed US$ for NT$ currency notes at Taoyuan airport to get a better rate, even after the NT$30 commission.

@aeiou228 Thanks for the call forwarding service free minutes

You are most well come.
What is the final exchange rate for RM>USD>TWD(taoyuan) ? MBB2Amex CC is better payment option than currency notes ?

18th Feb 2011- Applied via fax. No call from them.

4th Mar 2011- I called the CS to check on my status and was notified that signature and supp applicant ic were missing. re-faxed on the spot.

7th Mar 2011- Called CS. Was told that they still not receiving the missing documents. This time I scanned and emailed.

8th Mar 2011- Called CS. Was told that they actually want a clear copy of my IC. Scanned and emailed again on the spot. sad.gif

8th Mar 2011 - Received a call 1 hour after I emailed my IC that they still short of a supplementary application form. Download, fill up, scann and email to them. mad.gif

Walauu.. they gave me wrong info and requested documents one at a time. vmad.gif

9th Mar 2011- Received call from CS around 4.11pm that my MBB2Amex cards had been approved and will be couriered out latest this Friday (11th Mar 2011).

Lesson learned:

1) Don't use fax submission. Because the processing people can't see the IC and CC clearly and documents went missing.
2) Scanned and email is the fastest and most effective. But I always have reservation and uncomfortable of leaving a copy of my IC image file stored in a public server. sweat.gif

My experience with GSC is, the person SOMETIMES (like 1 out of 10 times) will ask for my credit card. When I am not in the mood to speak much, I will just present my card. Most of the time, I will just say forget to bring/dont know need to present/rushing for movie/already have code and get the ticket.
*
GSC practice this for a reason. To protect the interest of the CC holder from unauthorised purchase.
