guys i got a situation here...

I used my card to pay for maxis iphone installment plan few months ago, but after that i upgrade/change my card to to gold card (with different card number)..

Now i want to cancel the old card but stucked with the installment....
What should i do?

I went to bank and they say go back to maxis..But i dont think maxis has any clue/authority to help me..I called to maxis helpline but they ask me to walk in to maxis center...
Afaik, when we do installment we are actually dealing with the bank, the bank had already paid the full amount to the shop..

Anyone had such experience b4?

Just call Maxis and say you want to change your payment method. That's what I did. When they pass you the form, put your new cc number.

Don't go thru bank, very the mafan wan.

In your friend's case, why did he write his IC on it? he should just sign and forget about it.

Yes, there is no interest-free period if you have carry forward balance (reworded for clarity) for MY credit cards for some time already, this was introduced along with tiered interest rates.

Note that credit card interest is calculated a bit differently from most kind of loans. For example, using the example in Wikipedia, interest is charged differently if instead of a single RM1000 transaction, you have 2 x RM500 transactions. If you have a carry forward balance of RM1, you will be charged interest on RM1000 for the first scenario but only RM500 for the second.

Given your example scenario, when you repay RM1500 is also a factor in interest calculation.

A possible difference with MY banks is that e.g. if you repay your statement balance in full 2 days after due date, some banks might charge you interest while other banks might not.

I noticed my Maybank card didnt charged me interest. I paid above the minimum amount but not full.
On the other hand, EON-GSC charged me like RM46++ interest for about RM3000 overdue.

I call already, it is just the same as 1300...

Added on May 12, 2011, 12:18 pmNow only I know that for Maybank CC, if you accidentally swipe over the credit limit, no charges implied. You just cannot swipe the card anymore until you paid off the o/s amount to below your credit limit. =)
*
celaw what is the problem with your card? 1300 or the normal number still gets u to the customer service, else you may try email to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my or sharminazrin@maybank.com.my

How do you accidently swipe over the credit limit? There are no way and impossible for that, unless its an Offline transaction.

Dear LYN forumers,

Got a question to ask, if Shop ABC is Bank CBA merchant and the owner of the shop ABC hold the credit card of Bank CBA. Now:

Q1: Can the owner of Shop ABC swipe his Bank CBA credit card at his own Shop ABC? Being the owner of the shop is it ok? Violating any rules?

Q2: Same condition as Q1 but this time Owner of Shop ABC swipe his Bank CBA credit card every month with the same amount ( big amount assume >RM 20k ) and paid the full amount before the due date, is it ok to do so? Is this consider money laundering?
Anyone know?

Refer the merchant agreement, you cannot charge your own personal credit card under your own business establishment.

I dont think bank will really care becoz bank will earn from the interest....
But then again why would the shop owner swipe their own card? The bank will charge around 1-3% interest on all sales done on the machine (unless the shop has high sales volume)..

i have a situation here,
last 2 days,i swipe my card to buy thing, suddenly when waiting for authorization from bank, the cc terminal show some error (comm error) and the authorization receipt was not print out.and i contact my bank, and they said the transaction has been successful, but i didn't get the item becoz the receipt for the merchant copy and customer copy not been print out....

what should i do ?
any advise...

Ask the bank to reverse the charge..

As long as the shop doesnt have the receipt with your signature as proof, they wont get your money.

Hi guys ... hope someone can help me with my situation here ... I currently travel alot for work .. around the world and I use quite alot of credit card ... anyway so far I only have 1 credit card ...

On my last trip, my credit card failed and luckily I had enough cash ... which got me worried and I think i definately need more than 1 credit card ... I currently having a VISA card ..

My question to you guys is .. should my 2nd card be a MASTERCARD ? Or should I stick to VISA ? I have a mixed feeling coz I thought it might be good to have both ... but most of the time I only see VISA .. so I'm worried if suddenly my VISA fails and then my MASTERCARD is not accepted ...

Should I get MASTERCARD or VISA as my 2nd card ? My 1st card is VISA.
*
I never bothered to compare between Visa and Master coz its quite the same to me..And also i seldom use/buy stuffs at those places that has this offer lol....

Anyway i dont think its a must or important to have 1 Visa and 1 Master or vice versa as backup..
There are no such thing as "Visa failed" or "Master not accepted" becoz nowadays 99.5% machines accepts both cards.
The only thing that can happen is your card or account got problem.

Thanks everyone for the reply .. now the reason my card failed was probably way too much was capped in 1 single day ... I don't know if you guys know but in the US, the way they "get the money" is very weird ... Say if you check in to a hotel, they will ask for your credit card and usually they will just "hold" a certain amount right ? It's the same here too ... but when you check out, you need to swipe it again and sign then only the money get's deducted right ? But in the US no. Your money just get deducted AUTOMATICALLY yawn.gif You only sign the thing when you check in, which is quite scary.

So I knew about this coz it's my 3rd time to US now .. I've told the bank to increase my limit to 15k which is supposed to be more than enough .. So 1st day i reach here, i swipe for car rental which cost maybe 8k or something .. then straight i drive to hotel and swipe again which cost maybe like 5k .. then it failed to go through ...

Since it's a sub card from my dad, i got him to call the bank and blablabla say this cannot that cannot .. in the end we had to do advance payment, cash into the bank and it takes 4 days =.= Luckily I have cash with me .. so i mean if this was my own personal card and i do not have cash .. i think i would have died here ...

So i guess an extra card will do good smile.gif

Dude "hold" or deduct automatically doesnt means you can get it higher than your credit limit..

"hold" aka authorization is a mean to make sure your credit is enough to pay them...

So 8000 + 5000 = 13000 so its either the limit increase havent done or ur limit is over.
