Hi,
I am currently using CIMB gold mastercard and it is going to expire soon. Will CIMB send the new card automatically or i have to request for it?

Also, it does not offer much benefits since it is not link to petrol rebates, the points redemption and pay-per-point item are limited and no more voucher redemption. Is it possible to request for the new card to at least be made linked to petrol rebates?

I have a CIMB saving account, so CIMB card is my only option for now. I been wondering if I can request for upgrade to their CIMB PETRONAS Mastercard (Platinum Card) although I do not meet the income requirement yet? I have good payment record.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Silly me. My points redemption is the one gonna end soon at 10/11 while my card is valid until 9/13. I thought that it is more convenient to have same card with saving account so that can settle payment via cimbclicks easily. I will look thru the advices and also read up the linksbefore my next course of action. Will inquire further when in doubts. Thank you very much guys and gals :-)

cimb cc is good to apply for other bank platinum cc coz they are really generous with to give u high CL.

and its good for BT too. other than that, MBB 2 card or OCBC titanium is much better.
*
hi, may i know what is CL and BT? thanks

CIMB MASTERCARD is basically useless except on Sundays. OCBC Titanium & Maybankard 2 Cards offer much better benefits.
I think it's not worth to renew the card. What is the anniversary month of your card? If still got enough time, quickly go apply other cards first. If approved, then quickly cancel the card before GST comes in.
*
The last sentence interests me. My current card's anniversary is on september, meaning GST appears on the statement. If I succesfully get a new card on april, and cancel my current card before september, do I still need to pay GST for the old card? The GST for new card will be charged at the date of issuance right?

Want to be clear on this to avoid having to pay GST for both cards.

Hi Gen-X, your blog is very well written and informative. i spent 3 hours reading it. Bravo rclxms.gif

Like you and other have pointed out, I am keen on MBB2 card or OCBC Titanium. Just to confim my understanding on MBB2 card:
- the 5% cash back on any transaction is only for weekend capped at RM50. true?
- do i get Treatpoints on weekends too? or only during weekdays?
- the Treatpoints cant be redeemed for cash, but can be redeemed for vouchers. true?
- is AMEX accepted by Petronas?
- Maybankard 2 MasterCards will be available from April 2011 onwards. Meaning can only get the AMEX+Visa pairing now, while for AMEX+Mstercard pairing, after april?

M2U can be so troublesome to those who do not have any savings or current account with Maybank. I now have to maintain two different M2U accounts just for my Maybankard 2 cards  doh.gif  Will open one savings account with them next month for the sake of convenience.
*
Please bear with me, assuming i can use cimbclicks to settle my credit card statement of other banks, is there any service charge? Or to avoid the above quoted problem, is it advisable to open a Maybank account?

Thank you smile.gif

Thanks again everyone for the fast response.

I am now clearer on this CC thing. I am now pretty excited about this hehe. I have read on the rcubed and the esso points but am staying in Melaka and not many esso around. I think I will opt to open a saving account with Maybank first, and have it link to the AMEX and visa/mastercard using Maybank2u using a single ID/password for all. I am the type that will check my account/transaction daily so it is more convenient this way. Hopefully with the modern technology nowadays, they are able to link them all together.

About this mastercard vs visa, any difference? my current card is mastercard.

The next hurdle is the application as I dont meet the min income requirement for platinum. My CL for cimb is only 12k. I plan to go to the maybank branch to apply. Hopefully I get a better chance to convince the officer there blush.gif

On the last note, I'll suggest if you can't qualify please don't push your luck. Just take the gold card and work yourself up from there.
I'm being honest on the above and not discouraging you (I've fans who read my post and thinks I think of others as unworthy or stupid wink.gif ) but of course you may ask to your fulfillment prior to the application when you are at the branch.

The officer there is not the approving authority for your card nor would he/she would be able to convince the approving authority on your upgrade.
The important aspect is that you are able to get the MBB2 ... both the Gold and Platinum product offer the same TP multiplier and rebate structure - this should be sufficient already unless you want the status then I have nothing to say on that.
*
Hi yup, sound advice there. Trying my luck and will still take the gold card as it is still better than my current one. Am expecting to be able to meet the min income end of this year, and hope to be able to upgrade. thanks biggrin.gif

You may scan & email the application form & supporting docs to mbbcardservices@maybank.com.my
I did that.

yeah, this is probably good too since i always feel more comfortable with email correspondence compared to phonecalls. I will still go to the branch to open an account though smile.gif

Suddenly SBC appears as a candidate to replace my old cc too. I didnt consider it previously due to its annual fees, but if it is confirmed waived for 2 years, then it looks good. The RM188 can be used to offset the GST. Just noticed that it has the travel insurance coverage and purchase protection plan compared to MBB2, comparing gold vd gold here. From the website, it says Earn reward points on everything, everyday but not much info on this. Anyone can shed some info?

Maybankard 2 Gold doesn't offer RETAIL PROTECTION nor Travel Protection. Only Maybankard 2 Platinum has it.
Be noted.

Yaya, thats what i mentioned. MBB2 Gold doesnt offer that, but SCB Gold does biggrin.gif

Just received my M2 AMEX & VISA Card through registered mail. Everything seems to be fine except 1 thing: The Expiry Date for both the cards is stated as 10/11. Isn't that October 2011????? Meaning I have to renew back my cards in 6months+ time????
*
Hi, how many days it takes for them to mail you the card from the day you apply? Are you applying using fax/email/call etc? Thanks

Oh, free GST waiver for MBB2? Didnt know this, not mentioned in the website. That's good news. I received acknowledgement email from mbbcardservices about 24 hours after my application. Finger crossed icon_rolleyes.gif

So after all I still need to be present there lar?
The tickets are already paid and why on earth the staff want to verify the card. Sigh...after all the questions and answers, I still haven't got a firm answer.
I don't know the office number of TGV, so haven't asked them yet. The number published on the website is for booking purpose only..

My experience with GSC is, the person SOMETIMES (like 1 out of 10 times) will ask for my credit card. When I am not in the mood to speak much, I will just present my card. Most of the time, I will just say forget to bring/dont know need to present/rushing for movie/already have code and get the ticket.

GSC practice this for a reason. To protect the interest of the CC holder from unauthorised purchase.

well, yeah i understand. thats why i dont voice out my dissatisfaction to the counter. just that, we usually able to get away without showing them the card.

Hi, I would like to ask whether AMEX uses any safety feature similar to Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?

I am asking because I was using my MasterCard to purchase a GSC ticket online and I wondered how am I going to purchase using AMEX in the future as AMEX is not listed, but MBB is. Anyone has puchased a GSC ticket using AMEX before?

Thanks

In previous posts, correct me if i am wrong, there were talks about paying utility bills like TM, TNB, DIGI, ASTRO, etc using AMEX (i am using AMEX as example due to it's weekend's benefits).

Currently I am using cimbclicks and there is no such feature to pay bills using my CC, only direct from my saving account. I do not have a maybank2u online banking account yet, so I am wondering how the payments are done?

Thanks

Go to www.payonline.uob.com.my , sign up an account, and you are ready to pay bills. whistling.gif
Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
If you have OCBC TITANIUM Mastercard, go ahead, use it. It has got 5% cashback for utilities.
*
Oh ok, thanks. Anyway, as mentioned above, it doesnt accept AMEX. I was actually trying to find ways on how I can pay utilities bill using AMEX during weekends smile.gif
