QUOTE(Takudan @ Jun 1 2011, 02:22 AM) hey there takudan!i was a kk8 resident last time for 3 years i think, and im a comp science student as well. your post reminds me of the good ol days in college. ahh.. yes, the cats are fat like hell and the shit is well.. shit. have you encountered any monkeys yet? its a sad thing that the dewan makan thingy is abolished. is it already abolished or will it be soon? sometimes, yes the food sucks, but at times, they are bloody delicious, and most importantly, its free! and most of the makcik in the dm is very nice (they always give extra for cool seniors so, regarding your majoring, i cant help you much, but if, a big if that is, you are interested in MIS, you know who to find, alright? but since you love programming, maybe SE is your best bet. QUOTE(redscorpion @ Jun 1 2011, 05:02 AM) hi there and welcome Takudan! abang mod ni sempat buaya ya...first of all, the female tag is for real? the canteen in KK8 will be closed eh? what its going to be then? a normal hall for general usage? and talking about majoring, SilentSerpent will be butthurt seeing that u arent interested with MIS lol. nah.. no point in butthurting.. i aint selling no shit.. but let me just tell you this takudan, i remember our moderator here saying, "menyesal aku ambik SE, kalau aku tau baik aku ambik MIS". QUOTE(mezzi-quan @ Jun 4 2011, 12:54 AM) hi there, im curently a first year fsktm student.........i hav 1 question to ask..........hope u guys cn help..... hey there mezzi,my question is.......cn i register for xtra credit hours nex sem? on top of the maximum 21 credit hours we r allowed to take? i hav a big problem here............as i failed cso during my first sem, n i need to take it nex sem to pass all my level 1 courses so means i will need to take 24 credit hours nex sem........i heard i need to drop some of the subjects nex sem in order to accomodate cso.........is it necessary to do so? cn i take more than 21 credit hours? what if cso clashes wif other subjects nex sem? i dun wan to delay my graduation....... anyone failed cso too? haha......jz curious thnx its a sad thing that you flunked your cso. a lot of ppl did too. i think you should not rush it, and dont overburden yourself with the extra credit hours. yes, you can apply for more, but the chances of getting it approved is very slim. the most you can usually get is only 1 extra credit hour. its ok. everybody, well almost everybody will surely fail once. no worries though, you still have plenty of time, and even more to spare if you really buck up the next sem. there's no need to rush it, for you may just make things worse. take it one at a time, and trust me, you'll do well. the first year is always the hardest. once you got through the first year, you'll get a clearer picture of the whole thing, and you'll know what i mean. good luck! QUOTE(chazmonster @ Jun 17 2011, 11:15 AM) Hi, MIS is under CS, not IT. so you will be graduating under bachelor of computer science.I would like to know more on the Degree in MIS course at UM and I have some questions to ask too.. - I saw on the MIS program overview, and i saw that "candidates will be conferred with Bachelor of Information Technology degree". Do you grad as an IT or CS? Cause i see on the list of faculties, that its under Bachelor of Computer Science . - Does UM like offer any kinds of recognised certificate for that course within UM itself? Or do you have to take it somewhere else? - Is there a lot of students taking that course? Mostly are? - Is there like differences between ISE with MIS (Management Information System)? - In general, is the course demanded outside nowadays, for getting a job later? Thanks. yes, um offers a lot of other courses, which are mostly optional, but quite good nevertheless, for you to bolster your cv. some of the courses, like other forumers explained are ccna, oracle and flash courses. difference between mis and ise? by ise, you mean information systems engineering, right? well, im not really sure since ise is not offered, but in my opinion, both are quite the same, actually. its just the name that is different, or maybe a few subjects, thats all. regarding the demand, im not sure how to say this but, comp science graduates are a mixed bunch. yes, all of them are quite in demand, and it depends much on your skillset actually. for me, i think that mis has the largest and widest scope, since you can easily jump into management, project management, web development and even marketing. so, i hope that answers most of your questions. feel free to ask more btw, are you currently a comp science student, or are you planning to be one? |

QUOTE(chazmonster @ Jun 21 2011, 09:43 AM) What do you mean by 3P? well, depends on what you mean by 'good' really. So, your saying um offer some certificate classes over there as well? Full training as if? Free for? Added on June 21, 2011, 9:50 am yup, i'm currently a comp science student so, is it good to study degree over there at UM? what about the Bachelor of Information Technology (Management) programme? can you describe a bit of it? Thanks UM is one of the best, if not the best uni in malaysia. so, whenever you say you are studying in um, people will be amazed. even employers regard um very highly. in terms of comp science in um, well i cant say much about its quality. the faculty of comp science in um does produce a lot of successful graduates, and a lot of failures too. so, it's your choice really. QUOTE(chazmonster @ Jun 22 2011, 11:59 PM) im doing my diploma at international islamic college i'm not really sure about this, but i dont really think so (as far as i can recall).Added on June 23, 2011, 12:00 ambtw, is there like an open day at um where the public can come? university tour or something like that also?.. |
