Hi,

I'm a graduate from University of Nottingham with a second upper class trying to apply for masters in University Malaya. My application was rejected because they converted my UK-based grading system (average marks) to their CGPA grading system and my "CGPA" is only 2.5. I graduated with a second upper class and somehow my marks was "downgraded" all the way from second upper to a third or pass degree. I feel it is very unfair for them to convert since both are really different grading systems.

Just want to know if there is anyone out there experiencing the same thing as me? sad.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

They are both different grading system correct? But they just change my average using their grading system :/

The grading conversion is not as simple as the linear relationship, but that's the general procedure to compare apples and oranges.

However, you may get the support letter from your potential research supervisor to state his or her intent to take you as a research assistant. You may also want to pitch your skills that are required in the research such as data mining, programming, modeling, etc. icon_idea.gif

Muhyiddin: Our education system better than advanced nations.
It was reported 3 years ago. Specifically, Tan Sri said Malaysian children received better education than those in advanced countries based on the World Economic Forum's global competitiveness report (2012-2013) that ranked Malaysia 14th among 144 countries in quality of education (based on one of the eight indicators).

However, the first indicator, Secondary education enrollment rate, also tells us only 68% of Malaysian children received the so-called "better education". This is how we interpret statistics. sweat.gif Nevertheless, the key point is to achieve balance and efficiency as the Ministry strives to improve the system and quality of the education and training.

So, you plan to get an External Professor (outside UM) as your main research supervisor? sweat.gif

It's final already... they even said with this " pointer " I cannot even get a scholarship nor a conversion to phD. I'm totally lost now and my dream of doing a phD is being crushed hard now.
Thought that you have elected your main supervisor and a post doc as my co-supervisor? hmm.gif
