Then the likelihood of getting blur is high due to slower SS to lit up the environment.
What the usage and how to utilize the "flash-sync" setting?

Front curtain -> usual method where the flash is fired at the beginning of the exposure.Rear curtain -> the flash is fired at the end of exposure. Say for example your shutter speed is 1/2 seconds. The shutter would open for 1/2 seconds and then flash will fire right before the shutter closest back. This is usually done to show motion under low light (clubbing etc).
High speed -> a mode for flash to sync with shutter faster than actual sync speed. 1/200s for most bodies and 1/250 for higher end bodies. Some bodies like D40x have sync speed of 1/500s if not mistaken. So here's how the fast sync works. Just before the shutter opens for exposure, the flash will fire first basically to sync with the curtain.
So it pretty much means when you shoot at 1/1 on normal mode (1/200s?) versus 1/1 at 1/8000s the power output would be different.
