diff version have diff jb version/tools (using diff exploit cause each ios update/patch exploit)
diff developer and function (preserved baseband, ipad baseband, custom firmware, bootlogo, etc)

example.
4.3.3 (redsnow or snowbreeze)
4.2.1 (greenpoison or redsnow)
etc.

know what your requirement before using the tools.

example. im using 4.2.1 i can anytime revert to 3.1.3 cause i have shsh save before and also can jump to 4.3.1 that no longer sign by apple.

if you got ifile, try looking into /var/stash/applications.xxxx/bitesms.app (location may be diff in diff ver, mine ios4.2.1)

There is alot of image file inside (modify at your own risk) never done this before, only modify the apps icons.

as long you get into dfu mode you will be able to jailbreak, else jailbreak fail = nothing happen.

yes jailbreak can fail. just try reboot and try again.
