rechecked and it's 4.3.5 and tethered jailbroke
just read about the difference of tethered and untethered.
can a tethered be changed to untethered?

There is no untethered jb for that 4.3.5

It can be change to untethered if the same jb developer support it in future. But for now u are out of luck, there still no way for that.

meaning...have to downgrade 4.3.3 first? or lower?

just downgrade it to ios 4.3.3 mate..i have post the steps in previous pages...have a look..

bro greenlp, i using an ip4, my mom 3gs accidently upgraded to 4.3.5 and can downgrade. the prob is my ip4 didnt hav saved ssh 4.3.3 only got 4.3.5.
I still can downgrade or stuck in 4.3.5? upgrade to IOS 5? unstable...

owh man, since u didnt have shsh save in cydia try to save the shsh using tiny umbrella..download it from HERE n open it..connect ur device and select the device on the list and click save shsh..after successfully save shsh downgrade the ios by following the steps in THIS link mate...

For iphone 3gs/i4 is not possible to downgrade if u dont have shsh saved.

Tethered yes.
Jusy plug in and select " just boot right now" via redsn0w and you will do fine. Remember to untick "install cydia".

i got error 20 when trying to downgrade from 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 .. any idea why ? try to google it but couldn't resolve my problem too

i use this steps to downgrade to ios 4.3.3..open up tiny umbrella>start tss server>restore thru itunes>when error 1xxx pop up open up redsnow n jailbreak ur phone>when reach ("Installing Activation Bundles") hold down the power and home for 10 seconds>after reboot go into tiny umbrella and exit recovery..than u will get the ios 4.3.3 with cydia in it..

What is tethered and what is untethered?

tethered JB means everytime u restart / out of batt den u hav to active the JB from comp / lappy..
if untethered JB means u're totally JB n fine to restart as much as u wan
