Usually SLRs will have much longer shutter speed between 30 to 60 seconds and a bulb mode of a few minutes to unlimited with bulb mode. However, there are some prosumer cams that support long exposure time till 60 seconds as well as a few minutes of bulb mode.
Film cameras produce pictures equivalent to about 30 to 40 megapixels of digital pictures. But it wouldn't make any difference if you only make 4R prints.

Saw it this morning with the naked eyes from my living room on the 26th floor. No chance in taking pics as Butterworth was very cloudy.
