from canon website.. i read that there is exposure time of 5mins.... izit oni applicable to d-slr oni...? or every camera can set that manually.. n y ppl saidthat a old type camera works better than a digital camera.. izit comparing with a old slr with latest slr or normal cam with latest camera..
*
I don't think you want to do 5 minutes exposure without any mount just to take the astrophotos, you will just get trails. smile.gif

5 mins not quite enough for nice trails.....  sweat.gif

Just a reminder, tonite is full moon! The Egg Moon! (because it's Easter Friday).  laugh.gif

Also has anyone sighted fragment B of 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann? It's reported at 9th magnitude now, and may be visible through binos from just after sunset. I think I'll try to spot it this weekend if the weather permits.  rclxm9.gif
*
Hehe, I will have downloaded the data of Schwassmann-Wachmann into my handbox by next week. Let's have fun with it!

Do you think trails are nice to be taken? I personally don't like the trails. biggrin.gif Are you sure today is full Moon? I thought yesterday is 15th in Chinese Lunar Calendar?

the interesting thing is that 73P has broken up into so many pieces and is still disintegrating, so the earlier ephemerides 73P (1995) will be quite inaccurate.

Check here for daily updates!

the latest data update is a must if you want to see or photograph them!

Thanks for this informative web page! notworthy.gif

By George!  laugh.gif
That's another planet I've yet to see. Let us know if you succeeded...give me some motivation to try too!
BTW have you joined APGM?
*
I can't contact APGM, I don't know what happened to them. unsure.gif

Oh damn, this morning is such a mess! The cloud blocked the light!!!! vmad.gif Do you know that the cloud just blocked that direction (East)? vmad.gif I will try again next dawn. smile.gif

AIYAH! I thought the peak was to be on Saturday night / Sunday morning and I decide to sleep early last night so I would be fresh tonight......talk about missing the boat.... rclxub.gif

Did you see any Lyrids this morning?
*
Oops, sorry, lucky you mentioned this, I copy it from Europe article. blush.gif It should be dawn of Sunday. biggrin.gif I am going to see it later. It's rainning now, the clouds are going away! rclxms.gif

According to this site:
http://comets.amsmeteors.org/meteors/april_radiants.html
the Lyrids peak for us in Malaysia should be around 8.30 pm tonightsweat.gif haven't missed the boat yet.

If we are lucky, we may see the meteors shooting up from the North-Eastern horizon!  But generally speaking it is always better to wait for our part of the Earth to rotate to face the oncoming meteors so I reckon just after midnight is when I'll seriously start watching, although it will be over 3 hours after the expected peak......

Get ready with your DSLRs as Mr.LKM has pointed out (unfortunately I don't have one) - and also get ready to wish (this I have plenty) upon a falling star.... tongue.gif

Grhhh~~~ What is the GOD doing now? The sky is so cloudy since 6.30pm... vmad.gif Even my stargazing party was affected so much and all of us had to just looking at others' houses and the aeroplanes... sweat.gif I'll wake up before dawn to see if miracle happens. wink.gif

My private one-man party also fizzled out. It was still so cloudy at 1.00 am I gave up and went to sleep.  But I wonder if I missed something because the sky was showing nice patches of clear blue this morning....... doh.gif

Well, I'll try again tonight. Might catch one or two late Lyrids.
*
So are we able to see some before dawn of Monday? Is Vega at the direction of South-East?

Vega will rise at about midnight in the North-East, so don't wait until dawn.

Oh my god... I thought Vega's position is South-East... No wonder I can't find them... doh.gif North-East is behind my house, ie, blocked. sad.gif I think I have to go somewhere else to get the view.

Hehe you drink too much beer at last night's party.  laugh.gif

But you don't need to look at Lyra to see the Lyrids. Shooting stars can be anywhere in the sky. Just concentrate on any part of the sky which is clear.
*
Should be Vega, not Lyra. tongue.gif By the way, the party is just pure objects observing party. biggrin.gif There were no food and beverage. laugh.gif Anyway, do you read my blog?

Ya, I often pop in at your blog just to check what you've been up to. Great site, wish I knew how to do one like yours. But I'm too boring lah, I don't know what to write about.
*
Haha, thanks for your visit! notworthy.gif Why don't you leave reply there? It'll be a great kudos to me! biggrin.gif If you are interested on making yourself a blog, I can guide you. smile.gif

It's just unlucky that I can't spot any meteor due to the suck sky condition and the Uranus as well. sad.gif

Reply? let me think of what to say first......it must be meaningful and wise to match your site lah.  Aiyoyo my mind has just gone blank again!

You know like everybody I like to criticise the authorities a lot. So I would love to do a blog like Jeff Ooi's but scared the polis will come and visit me.........nanti masuk lockup pula!  sweat.gif

Never mind the Lyrids lah, you can try again next year.
As for Uranus, this planet is just a p*in in the a*s to catch.  laugh.gif
*
Hehe, I like the one who likes to do criticism. biggrin.gif

Looks like I really have to wait for the next year Lyrid. sad.gif By the way, I just spotted Uranus this morning. It was quite blur as the sky was hazy. By the way, the crescent moon was just too amazingly nice this morning. rclxms.gif

I am writting the observation report now in my blog now. smile.gif

I think the mods caught him quite fast.
Good job, mods!
I saw a warning thread to him come on earlier on but it seems to have been removed. He only manage to infect 3 threads before he was stopped.
WEPP8818 is probably a newbie to the internet, email and forums. He hasn't learnt the etiquette......give him a chance lah.

Even a person who never touch internet before should know basic manners, don't you think so?

Have you started monitoring SW3?

Last night I thought I would do it, but the sky was uncooperative as usual, couldn't even see Jupiter!

BTW congratulations on sighting Uranus!  notworthy.gif
Maybe if I manage to stay up the whole night until morning I might finish off with a glimpse of good old George too..... sweat.gif
*
I hope you spotted SW3! icon_rolleyes.gif I think I will observe tonight also. smile.gif

Have you had any luck spotting any of the 73P/SW fragments yet? The sky has been hopeless over here in KL since last Saturday. If this goes on, I will have to make a special camping trip this weekend far away from KL. Can't afford to keep missing so many events...... sweat.gif

Haha, these two days are rainning. I hope that tonight will be a clear night. smile.gif

The database corruption has me seeing stars!

Anyway, to repost, I missed 73P/SW fragment C on Sunday Night/Morning morning even though the sky was cooperative. I guess I was fixated on the Ring Nebula and the comet was still quite a distance from it!
Unfortunately this mistake could prove costly as the sky has closed up again..... cry.gif

Oh my god, I am more black than you. Yesterday, I did an observation but I forgot to observe schwassmann-wachmann... doh.gif vmad.gif

Same here, I am sure that it will clear in time.

It's just sad to tell you that I haven't got my self a notebook in order to take photos. I am wondering whether should I buy the notebook and use the ccd imager or get a dslr instead?

notworthy.gif thanks

Bro Eithanius has already answered you. biggrin.gif

March05, I am even worse than you. I have a clear sky here but you know? I am nearly late for school today. I woke up at 4.28AM and decided to sleep back as the alarm was set on 5.15AM. Somehow, I slept until 6.45AM... doh.gif I will try my luck these few nights again until I observe it with my eyes!
