It struck me when I saw a comment by Roland San here.

I just wonder, what are other games/dlc that really disappoint you much and aren't worth it for you. Maybe it'll help others in selecting their games/dlc.

Hope all of you can contribute


As I found out too many variations of disappointment, it's kind of hard to keep track here. I believe this thread it self can be a reference for people to take a second opinion regarding games/dlc release.

It's kind of frustrating when generally you just found a good review from all sorts of sites rite? Hope this will help a lil bit.

TBH, DLC worth or not is depended of invidual, some are expensive, but for some they still feel is worth it. For me, every DLC arent worth it, unless u r very hardcore/ BIG fans of the game

for me, i like buying DLC for games as far as its expansion or game addo-on, but i dont like buying it at full price. i like buying them when they have like 50% sales & above & i dont care if the DLC have achievement or not lol

Games
Mercenaries 2 - Ugh... it was just plain boring. I really wanted to just play coop with buddies but by the time I got it my friends who played it played something else I forgot what come out after.
Street Fighter 4 - The existence of Super Street Fighter 4 >_>
Modern Warfare 2 - Nothing too wrong about it, I was just expecting a more balanced and less broken MP experience
Guitar Hero World Tour - What a broken system
Viva Pinata - It wasn't my thing, but I wouldn't be even half as mad if it wasn't for the hype behind it
Too Human - Thank God I didn't buy it :B

DLC
Way too many songs on Rock Band - mostly broken charting, difficulties, or the bands are the issue. I mostly just buy songs without thinking =\
Halo 3 map packs - I got Halo 3 ODST short after, rendering the purchases of the map packs useless >_>
Soul Calibur IV Darth Vader - No one at home plays him, and I didn't really like him, I prefer using Nightmare =\
GTA Lost and Damned - I bought GTA complete on PS3 >_>

DLC

actual there are a lot of crap dlc. hard to list them down. if there are sales, 50% 80%off. its worth to pick them up as its cost less than $2. fable 3 is generally famous for its crap dlcs. PAID launched day dlc was total useless, 160ms for dyed hair?, 400ms for a dog costume?. even the free dlc given worth more than this (quest/weapons).

like DA:O nearly 60% of their dlc is not worth it. ME2 nearly 3/5 DLC is not worth it. like 1 dlc worth $8 (2hrs) for a game with a total value of $40 (20hrs). if u do ur maths u know it should be price at $4.

even halo:reach, 4 maps for 800 mspoints. u got to be kidding me. if its price at 400mspoints, i might consider purchasing it.

and the infamous Activision, COD:MW2 Stimulus Package dlc cost 1200ms points for 5maps similar with blops first strike. so should it be price like this?.

however bfbc2:vietnam is diffidently worth the money. $15 for a total change of enviroment, weapons and gameplay/tactics, 60-70's music

well arcade games dlc, well are price quite reasonably.

well, it all boils down to what u like and should u extend the experience.

XBLA

arcade games, unlike dlc are better off but not all are price accordingly. like the recent 'swarm'. i feel its pricey at 1200ms. ilmilo price at 800ms is worth it. games like laracroft, MNC, comic jumper at 1200 is worth it.

DLC that makes me feel cheated:

Deatsmiles Black Label DLC - 1400 JP points, available for free on Platinum Hits

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label DLC - 1400 JP points, available for free on Platinum Hits

Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label DLC - 1400 JP points, released retail disc Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label 2 months after Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, and Black Label DLC released at the same time with the retail Black Label version.

That's why it's Platinum Hit! If you feel cheated, next time don't go buy a game on first day. Wait until there's Platinum Hit edition is out. There you go, free DLC

not all plat hits have dlcs. greedy capcom is one of them.

any plat hits only release after hitting 100k copies sales.

i thought the industry practice was after 1mil sales than only re-release on Platinum.

As for GOTY edition is just long term brand awareness campaign by the publishers.

worse DLC i paid for:

Borderlands Moxxi Underdome - eff this no xp/no loot

DA2 Exiled Prince - US$7 to download 50mb unlock code. and he won't sleep with your character because he is "religious" wtf

MvC3 - US$5 PER CHARACTER. and now there is a rumor of "Super MvC3" edition and 14 DLC characters at Captivate '11

GOTY needs to hit 1 mil sales. plat hits needs 100k copies sales (physical) after 9 months force by MS as a measure of price cuts on the title. By right Platinum hits is MSRP $19.99


similar with sf4... 7 months later released ssf4 which added 4 chars to the roster and slapin $49.99 price tag. man i hate capcom.

Wow, too much disappointment found here. And I'm having hard time to put it under one post.

Yeah, those disappointment most of the time is really personal reason, but because of that can help other people in making a wise decision especially for those who has the same thought.

I know it help me in many ways. As I started to play Fable series, I'm considering to buy those DLCs, but not anymore after much comments from user.

DLC :

warlord (something like that)

560 ms point for this useless , 15 minute play time DLC .................. why not just put it in normal game play while developing games ? only know how to earn money from fans ~

scariest thing about game retail is that after the 1st week of release, it cannot sale anymore because it will be overshadowed by next weeks big release (unless the game is CoD)

technically these DLC were done during a period where the game is 'code freeze' -where all the content in the game is finalized and bug tested.

so those dudes who were making levels having nothing productive to do.

DLC was a way for developers to make money post game release. but clearly we've seen a lot of shit DLC (Capcom).

when its done right its awesome.

hey not every game dlc is not worth it. just that pricing of the dlc. during sales, i m sure i ll pick them up.... for fable 3.. its better u read the description (most of the dlc is unlocks). so far they are only 2 quest dlc.. 3 quest dlc is exclusive for ppl who preorder.

some good dlc, Alan wake's signal and writer priced at 560ms (new year sales at 230ms) are a fine example of dlc. similar to bfbc2: vietnam, RDR:undead nightmare.

however, rockstars individual dlc, i could say its pricey. gta4 dlcs, and RDR dlcs.

rockband dlc's (songs) are hardly worth it. price at $2-4each. unless they offer song pack.

I disagree on RB dlc, if you think about it itunes is mostly 99c for non interactive mp3. For the amount of work remastering them for RB, adding charts and so on i think 2USD is a fair price to pay for em add another 80msp for guitar pro mode is pretty worth it if you ask me, considering the fact that you're getting the pro mode to learn the song. Track packs are even more worth it at 440msp for a 3 pack. Also RBN frequently has songs that go for 80msp.

With the amount of DLC, you don't have to buy everything unless you really like the song. If it's a song that you like then the price is more than worth it. It is annoying though seeing the track packs/albums that you already own go on sale. Still i don't regret building up my song collection on RB.

What i hate is DLC that adds achievements which practically forces you to buy it if you really want to maintain your game completion stats...

PErsonally, I think you only get disappointed with games if you hype yourself up too much over the game. If you approach the game with little expectations you're not likely to be disappointed. It's like buying cheap XBLA games on sale, I don't really expect much out of so more often than not I find myself surprised by the game in question.

i just dont think RB dlc are price accordingly.

I'm not generalizing that all DLCs are not worth it.

Everyone entitle for their own opinion. I guess we don't have to disagree or agree with one another, just take the opinion and make our own decision either we want to buy it or not (if we still not buy). Otherwise, it can be a good basis for future buy.

At first, I'm myself feels $2 can be a lil steep for a song. Kidicarus has a point in the efforts it took. A very good point of view

DLC - Fallout new vegas: Dead money .. biggest disappointment ever, just finished it this morning ... made my head hurt

DLC - Arrival for Mass Effect 2 is interesting as you have to learn to fight as Shepard alone instead of having 2 buddies, but honestly as a Mass Effect fan it did not add much to the story. Pricing-wise their DLCs are ok but most do not have much content. The problem is you are roped in because you want things to 'carry over' to ME3.

As it is also Fallout New Vegas was a disappointment, all the bugs and glitches in the first week made it unplayable until it was patched. even then still glitched like crazy. I can play Borderlands for 8-12 hours running and it won't lock up ever but FNV can lock up after 30min or 1hr when you enter something or whatever it feels like.

Fable 3 same thing. Compared to Fable 2 which I loved, it sorta went downhill and felt like a watered down RPG - no real choices imo. So Fable 1 > Fable 2 > Fable 3.

Recent major disappointment was Homefront. Lots of talk of great story .. in the end no such thing ... with dated painful gameplay.
