I recently google on custom built HO alternators, as I believed it is hard to find aftermarket HO alternator or even NONE for some car models. Anyone heard of custom built HO alternators from Excessive Amperage, Iraggi, Stinger (made by Wrangler) and Ohio Generator? I made enquiries with them through email, 1 of them could build a 180A for my Myvi, rest of them haven't replied.
Any members ever custom build a HO alternator with them or from other sources? Reliability issues?
Anyway, I have another question to ask..is the voltage regulator built internally inside the OEM alternator, or external separate? Heard that they could set up an external adjustable voltage regulator (12-20 volts) for an added cost. Is this good?

QUOTE(bafukie @ Mar 31 2011, 09:29 AM) the ques is do u need that much? well, myvi's alternator output is small..Besides ICE, i have HID for headlamp and foglamp. It's always good to have larger output alternator to accomodate those extra electrical loads. SPL competitions? 180A is what they probably could juice it out for my alternator.. I don't think I'm going to need that much, lesser to say such as 120A like what Howie mentioned.. I'm planning to get a higher output alternator, not for SPL but adequate for a decent SQ setup. This post has been edited by taaron: Mar 31 2011, 01:26 PM
