Standard chartered credit card cancel is really problem.
Here how it is going:

15-March-2013 -settle remaining amount, and fill up form to cancel card at Kajang branch. and promise call me back in 7 working days.
Then waiting, never call me back.
1-April-2013 -call to their platinum no only find out my card was never cancel!!! I was like huh?!?!!?!! I submit the cancellation request.
They promise call me back in 3 working days for card cancellation.
I wait, never call me back.
3-April-2013 -call again their platinum no, ask me wait again.
6-April-2013 -got call from price solution. say already waived my RM50 gov tax. I was surprised again? Not cancel my card, but I was told my card was not cancelled but waived government tax?

LOL....is this service provided by Standard Chartered Bank?
*
Fyi, you will receive SMS notification when the cancellation is completed.

Just forward the complain to Bank Negara.

If you are very sure that you never apply for the card, then you should bring up this matter to the bank. If the bank insist that you applied, request them to show evidence. Make everything in black and white, ie email.

Thanks for your feedback.

The thing is I don't have any saving accounts with standard chartered. I think I can't make online payment from other bank to stan chart credit card, or can I?

Anyway, I have decided to cancel the CC since I seldom use it plus I need to pay the yearly government service tax (RM50) or whatsoever.
*
Just for your info, yes you can do IBG transfer from other banks to pay your CC. 10 cents only.

Standard Chartered credit card cancellation is a lot troubles :S

call them, they told me few days, transfer me to other third party department and the line drop (before that told me will call me back if line drop) after a week no news

they said can help me waive annual fee and pay government tax RM50 >.<" but i do not use that card anymore, so i just proceed for cancellation

*between, i have cancel standard chartered card few weeks ago" but until today i still receive sms from standard chartered regarding credit card promotion and etc... how to unsubscribe sad.gif ?
*
Simple, just send an email to Bank Negara. The same thing for the marketing materials, I managed to get my name completely removed from their marketing database (another bank).

email to bank negara  shocking.gif

email bank negara, standard chartered will know and remove my name from their database?
*
usually, when bank negara receives a complaint, it will forward to the bank. The bank will have to address the issue and respond to the customer and cc to bank negara within 2 weeks.

for my case, the contact person (bank) followed up diligently and ensured that my name is removed from all marketing channels.

Guys, I have a question. I want to cancel my ambank cc. according to this thread I need to call the ambank customer service. There's a few number that I have called 03-20546688, 1300 80 8888, 03-2178888 but the problem is the operators are engaged everytime and have to wait. At 1 time I have to wait even 30 min before running of my patience and hung up.

I have also walk to the nearest ambank branch but the staf just give the customer service no. Do you guys know other way to cancel the cc. Its getting annoying....
*
Just fax the termination letter.

If no action being taken, lodge a complaint to Bank Negara, stating date of the fax, the dates that you made attempt to contact their customer service and that you have even went to the branch.

Hi. Previously i applied standard chartered credit card for visa but at the end they send me visa and mastercard. So i just activated the visa one and leave the mastercard but now they are charging me service tax and late charges on my mastercard even I didnt activate it. So right now i decided to cancel it. Any ways to cancel withou making a phone call? I saw you post can make from SC banking page. Cant find it. Please advice. Thanks
*
You made a mistake for ignoring the mastercard. Contact SCB and tell them that you only applied for Visa. You can send email too.

Just in case they still do not want to waive it for you, maybe you can swipe it once or thrice (need to check with CS) within a certain period of time after your card approval date and they will credit it back on the 3rd or 4th statement.
I am against this idea. It will only encourage these unethical agents to do the same thing to others. The bank needs to apologize and take action on the agent.

Alexwsk, will do. Thanks a lot!

In future, please be careful and cross out the cards that you do not want in the form.

Of course the most righteous thing to do is to complain to the bank and cc Bank Negara. It is just that I have a friend who was also conned by an agent so he requested to cancel the card and did not pay the fees. Later on his CCRIS was affected and so was his loan application. Only then he found out that the bank did not waive the fee and charge the late payment and interests as well. After complaining to BN, it took quite some time for his report to be cleared. Furthermore you need to retain the CC for at least 6 months so that the agent will get his commission. I am just saying that it can be the last resort in case everything didn't work out.
*
Your friend was partly at fault for ignoring the fee and did not follow up on the cancellation. That is why he faced such problems. When he reported to BNM, it was already late.

The agent already con your friend and he still care to wait 6 months for the agent to get his commission? doh.gif

Many people have reported that they are being conned by these agent because of this so called last resort. It is time to teach them lessons.

What I meant was since the agent needs to wait 6 months or so to get his commission, once the GST has been credited back on the 3rd or 4th statement we can directly cancel the card, that should also teach the agent a lesson.  icon_rolleyes.gif

i see, i understand your point now biggrin.gif
