 squats, cant perform a good form

I've been doing squats for 2 weeks now and my knees and lower back are starting have a mild discomfort. The reason is because when i squat my torso tend to lean too far forward, and my knee is going in front almost surpassing my toes.

The problem is if i squat with my torso more upright and keeping my knees from moving forward, i tend to fall backward, no matter how hard i try to stay stable. Is there a reason for this happening?? Any ways for me to improve my form so tat i can squat injury free??

Only 2 weeks you have been squatting and you want to master it? Well, get someone to coach you, start with lighter weight and master the form first before jumping into heavy weight.

so this is a normal thing for beginner squaters? i thought i have flexibilty issue or weak in certain muscles that prevents me from performing a good squat. K then... thx

When you squat, have someone to support you from the back, get someone to spot for your mistake. Do not go too heavy for the first month, try to get the form right first. Don't mess with these workout that will injured your back, it takes a few second to get injured but a few weeks to months to get it heal.

1. Look at parallel or slightly above parallel.
2. Grip the bar as close as possible, to maintain tightness in the upper back.
3. Position of the bar should be on the shoulders, not the neck.
4. Go deep, at least to parallel, i find half squats to stress to knees a lot.
5. Go light, and make sure you get your form damn near perfect before even going heavier.

try loosening you hamstring a little, very often, that is the culprit

No, that's not normal. Knees going in front of your feet is normal.
Having discomfort is not.

Go watch Rippetoe's squat videos on YouTube, and just get someone to teach you. There's no way anyone can tell you how to do it properly online.

Get someone to spot your form dude. Its the best way. I'm sure there are somebody at your local gym whom you can talk too.

Try going light. Maybe just the bar alone without any weights on, just to work on your form and progress accordingly

Although in some parts of the video, he was biased against squats, he did not say 'dont do squats'. In the end, his point, which tallies with what nearly everyone else stresses, is to be careful. Have a proper setup for it, ie squat rack/power cage and watch your form.

bullshit. Man I get low and I swear my knees would drift forwards towards the bottom.

also, fine to lean forward if you're holding it with a low grip.

don't get anyone to 'spot' you. It's very dangerous to have someone hold you/touch you/hug you during your squat. Get someone to watch you, that's fine.
