Anywho all the ROMs I tried, it's about the same but the battery life really depends how you customise your phone. (I don't use APN and all that stuff so that 1 need to ask someone else)

AOSP battery life is good though 

GPS depends on your Radio mainly.  - But the rom, no problems

MMS = tada guna

Honest opinions from me:

3) Small issue. Workarounds all confirm to help. App2SD+ (meaning using ext type partitions) can allow you to install looottsss of apps (I got like 120ish, some users here have crazy amount of apps  ) Space is no problemo. It's like your windows lar. If you make 2 partitions on your HDD, you can have 2 different Windows like Win 7 or XP... similar but in this case it's storage or usable...something. Idk , check out Ext 3 linux partition. There are glossaries on definitions on xda dev. TLDR; Can install until you don't have enough RAM to support

Slow SD Transfer, you can try an app called "Multi Mount SD Card" from market
or if you're on MIUI_Au GB, you can try this (it might work with other ROM as well, but its from MIUI_Au so try it at your own risk )
personally I use the built-in FTP function, you'll need to install a FTP client on your PC first (e.g FileZilla), transfer speed stable at 2mbps

for Swype, try this, restore Swype KB via TB, then reboot your phone, see if it works, it worked for me

previously my problem was > auto reboot whenever i play games for 10mins++ and it overheat.. then restart..
took them 3 days to fix my desire..
i give them 10 star ! 
now i try.. no more problem with that..  yay !  new mobo.. muwahahhaha..
now only i know how important is warranty.. nasib mine is 2 years warranty..

If LED for charging, yes, but when u receive SMS/and such it may overwrite since ur charging so the LED = ALWAYS ON..

I don't think LED will be on the whole time though (Shortens LED lifespan) will blink when got SMS waiting/arrived or EMAILS/MMS etc
