wah, that sucks especially when N43SL could easily touch 6-8 hours.

RM200 premium seem will provide:
+ extra 2-4 hours of battery life
+ better sound system
+ better overall design (subjective)
+ better community feedback, tutorial, tips/trick at LYN
- additional 100 gram

Damn, I guess I should go to N43SL now. Hahaha, thanks for the input and thanks T.J for your very well explain and informative PM. Really really appreciate em.

Actually, i'm thinking to get Acer 4830tg, but I worry about the quality.
Perhaps they improved alot in reliability ?
*
I was in this situation as well (5 days ago). After reading all the posts in Acer 4830TG threads, pass experience with acer, hands on at shop, feedback and information from several sifoos (TJ, Lee_What, Ivan, Alex), I decide to heads up to Asus path? Well, allow me to share my finding and opinion.

First, 4830 battery is not removable. Heat will kill it eventually. Doesn't matter it can last up to 8 hours now. What if only 2 hours when the warranty expired (battery only 1 year) (Finally I got this idea..thanks T.J).

Second, warranty concern. Only Asus and Dell provide on site pickup. No need to send back to shop. Acer and others (AFAIK), you have to send back to the shop or distributor.

Third, 4830TG has heat issue due to 1 heatsink design. This is really sucks because when you try to play games at extended period, the CPU will throttle down. If not gaming, why bother with GT540 at all. Personally, I do not play game at notebook. Has pc for that purpose. But, if I want to play but being restricted by heat issue, I don't like the idea because I already pay some money for GT540. It is like, you can play current game but....... the 'but' is I hate most.

Forth, Asus N43SL could reach 8 hours as well. You can PM devour and get great deal for this N43SL. It is cheaper than 4830TG and the battery is removable as well. A shop at LYP even sell this for RM3340. Some more, you automatically enjoy 2 years warranty oppose to 1. Acer extended warranty (additional 2 years) will cost you another RM195. Battery is excluded (correct me if I am wrong).

However, by choosing this path, I have to forgo one of my important requirement. USB 3.0 (Although JC edition has it, but the stock and design...haiz, lazy la to fight for it). N43SL also a bit bulky and heavier than 4830TG and less metal material. Well, we can get everything for limited budget don't we.

This is just my preference. I decide to share this since I was in your dilemma several days ago. Perhaps this explanation could help you even tiny itty winy bit biggrin.gif

PS: From Vostro 3450 -> 4830TG -> U41SV -> Vostro 3350 --> A43SV --> N43SL. (whoa, what a journey...wasted 6 days of life due to intensive searching)

Confirm with devour, U41SV doesn't has USB. Very weird because Asus Product Guide said otherwise. I will verify it today.

U46JC or U46SV? If you mean the gold color one, the temptation is high. But then, need to wait until mid of august. cry.gif Waaaaa, so long without notebook. Afraid later on, Asus spew another model that ask me to wait another several weeks. Haha, can't chase technology. Unless you happen to know otherwise biggrin.gif

Latest Asus Product guide does mention that N43SL could reach up to 10 hours using its hybrid engine. I guess, the 8 hours claim seem valid. Well, who know, in pc fair today if got JC edition with reasonable price...i just need to buy a matte filter screen and other LCD lid sticker lar..hahaha. Got USB3 too tongue.gif

Will you be gaming alot on the laptop? If not much gaming, then 4830Tg can be considered as well la nod.gif
The most important thing is to get the laptop you like the most, and the laptop doesn't necessarily needs to be the best in everything nod.gif especially applicable if you're very picky about the design laugh.gif

Dell is onsite service, not just pickup..
Lenovo, HP also got onsite, but that's another warranty upgrade..

Erk now I know. Thanks Lee. Btw, so far I have yet to find any review that state N43SL/N53SV has heat issue? Does this notebook has heat issue too?

So far no,
the 4830TG isn't really heat issue, its that Acer somehow put the heat limit too low, like at 85C, it will start throttle. This can be overcome by using ThrottleStop and disable TurboBoost..
But the 4830TG battery wear level does make a concern..
