hey guys today i was in college and my laptop was plying music in the class the whole time
My laptop was using Winamp + DFX audio enhancer, volume 70%, wireless off, windows CPU(temps also included) & HDD monitoring gadgets running and in battery saving mode. Guess what......the battery lasted for 5 hours 15 min rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif and only 8% was left after that. Dam it broke my record of only lasting for 5 hours thumbup.gif
Seriously i love this laptop. I never would expect a 15.6 laptop with SB i7 quad core proc and 2GB NV GPU to last this long. Guess Asus really did live up to its hardware quality. thumbup.gif

Hmm i'm planning to purchase this same laptop however i can't get a great review about it! And this post has like 70+ pages! I want go through all but i malas~ HAHA, any summary of review?

From what i see you guys are experiencing this main problems
1) Slow Boot Time
2) Heat Issues
3) HDMI?
*
Slow boot times???? can be solved. Now my boot up time is 43 sec. 60sec is still consider normal btw. Above that then got some prob
Heat issues??? when playing games its normal to reach 90C
And my HDMI is working fine

If u wan get a full review go to 1st page and read my post. To get the latest battery time.....go to previous page and see my last post, u will be surprise thumbup.gif

sifu trance, do u uninstall asus ai recovery, asus fancy start, asus lifeframe, asus video magic, and all those relate with cyberlink software?
*
i only leave recovery, e-driver, e-manual, lifeframe, splendid, winflash, fast boot, power4gear hybrind, ATK and wireless console. The rest i deleted. The most important software to delete is Asus Live Update. From what i read on other website, its completely useless as it eats up resources and it act as a worm without u knowing

What is DFX Audio Enhancer? smile.gif Better than SonicMaster?
*
QUOTE(sanmiauz @ Apr 26 2011, 10:07 PM)
i turn off sonic master
i prefer winamp old enhancer 0.17 by i_adryan dsp plugin better than dfx smile.gif
from my personal experience
*
For me, without the Sonic Master, the internal speakers somehow becomes a mono speaker so the DFX only helps abit.
But Sonic Master + DFX audio enhancer = Legendary thumbup.gif
If off any one of them, can hear really really big diff.
I recommend Sonic Master + Winamp +DFX audio enhancer "ahem" version(plugin for winmap) for everyone

Old winamp got better enhancer shocking.gif does it work with the latest

any big difference on the bass?
*
for bass, theres is but not much. Still u can set the DFX audio enhancer settings. If u wan more bass can put the HyperBass to MAX! laugh.gif but i think it will spoil ur speaker.
But seriously the DFX really helps for me. It somehow add 3D sound/better surround sound.
If u connect the laptop to an external 2.1 chnl speakers, its gonna be really awesome with DFX + Sonic Master thumbup.gif

+1 but mine last for 5 hours u win trance laugh.gif hahaha...but seriously i would never espect it will last for 5 hours...now im deeply in love with my lapy wub.gif hahaha
*
yea i also nvr thought it will reach that long. 1st time i got it i told myself having 3 hours 30 min battery life is ok for me (since i had a crappy Lenovo Y560P b4 doh.gif ) but it shock me out of this world when it reach more than 5 hours rclxm9.gif
Anyway, the advantage we have over the DV6 i think would be the battery life as i heard the owners cant go more than 5 hours laugh.gif

dfx audio enchancer?  plugin lai de?

DFX audio enhancer is a plugin for many media players. Got for windows media player and also got for winmap.
I personally prefer winmap because u can customize ur own interface and they have a better equalizer than WMP IMO

I am using DFX with my windows media player. Only using the evaluation copy of DFX. limited usage but the sound already improved. Not sure how good is the full version

Guys.. about this DFX + winamp audio enhancer thing.. do they work on Media Player Classic?
*
Trust me the full version has even more improvement. You get even more bass and better yet.....a better 3D surround sound thumbup.gif

The DFX works for many media players like Winamp, Windows Media Player, Real Player etc. Unfortunately it does not work with Media Player Classic....anyway who uses it to listen to music. I only use MPC to watch videos

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I WANT MY UNIT SWAPPED!!!

*difference is I PAID FOR IT ALREADY AND CANT USE IT*

WTF

I think when u get it back, u better stress the laptop in front of the tech person specially the HDMI, Screen, Speaker and USB 3.0 (as there are reported prob that it transfer at speed of USB 2.0)
And when u stress the speaker, im sure there will be distortion. So, ask the tech person "eh why my speaker still got prob. I thought N series has premium speakers" thumbup.gif i wanna know the fellow reaction laugh.gif

If it's hw, usually the symptoms will come out within the shortest time possible.

Usually BSoD is due to bad memory or something. But since you know when it exactly happened, try to recreate that problem.
*
weird, when i watch the same video...nothing went wrong hmm.gif
i have no idea how to recreate the prob

I think you need to enable fastboot in bios, I was checking out the bios the other day and found enable fastboot. My boot time was faster instantly by 20 second after I enabled it.
*
QUOTE(rickycheang @ Apr 27 2011, 11:53 PM)
sifu, wat do u mean by enable fastboot in bios? sorry im noob... i enable the fastboot, it make my boot time become slower from 1min half to almost 2 mins... i also duno how... n wat is BSOD in full? haiii... i realy face a boot time problem...
*
what do u mean enable FastBoot in BIOS. I just click on the program and set some program to delay and FastBoot do its job......

How can FastBoot slow down bootup time, thats impossible. It shorted my bootup time by 10-15 secs.

BSOD = Blue Screen Of Death. Don't be frighten by the name, its just a name for some "crash"
