I confirm something wrong with your laptop, my dv6 under stress mode still never reach 80 Celsius only remain 70 Celsius, some more not cooled by any cooler and only under fan room.

bros, I'm planning to get this lappy soon.
just want to ask the HDD speed is it really slow ?
cos if it is, I plan to remove it and put in a SSD.
*
Its not slow la till it cannot be tolerate
If u put SSD....then ur stuck with less then 200gb.....might as well add Seagate Momentus XT(heard theres some prob with it)

Hi folks, I'm thinking to get a N53SN this weekend.
Any shops to recommend to buy? I'm from PJ so Subang, PJ or KL is ideal.

Thanks.

LOL! Ok ok .. think carefully about it lor ^^ haha
BTW , All N53SN users, may i know is slot 1 pair with slot 2 ?? Or pair with slot 3 to perform dual channel ?? Becuz i just chekced and found that my ram is at slot 1 and slot 3 ... is there any dual channel effect ??
*
Somehow when i check the RAM using CPU-Z, the slots are wrong.
Anyway when u open the back, the slot its already labeled. Slot 1 pair with slot 2. Slot 3 with 4

juz bought and receive it yesterday, now using, no complains
i think they revise 1 more time as mine was all brushed black metal aluminum, only lid was sliver..
key board dun flex as much as the previous asus i had used
if u lucky u will get WD hdd as u will score 5.9
revised new comes with 1333 mhz not 1066mhz rams.
lid not soo tight
size is huge as big as a mbp 17 inch
sound is fantastic @trece4eve( comparing to 5750g) but with certain high pitch songs will be very ear pain if maxed out everything
best reformat.. as i gt hell not doing it.
1 min startup time with all heavy softwares loaded up
weight is nice, juz dun bring the brick charger along(put 1.5 iphone4 dimension and times the thickness by 4)
very cool palm rest, never feel.. fan can be noisier than the acer 5750 though
if u get the newer sn then go right ahead
*
No la they din revise it i think cause the SV and SN surface design is diff. Both brushed black metal but the SV got this woody texture which only can be seen la not touch.

Sound awesome meh laugh.gif . For me its ok la cause not much deep bass. As my nick name says it....i need more bass!! laugh.gif

Btw gratz on ur purchase and welcome to the club rclxms.gif and is ur HDD WD or Seagate

my, my..... the palm rest is a hand print magnet!

its a dumb question but,
anyone got any good idea on how to reduce this? -.-

gotta wipe it after every use  dry.gif
*
Seriously...is this your first laptop??
The design is made to reduce/hide thumbprint. Compared to my previous laptop........it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worst. I just placed one finger there for 1 sec and i can see my own thumbprint clearly.

Anyway if u wan to clean the laptop, i suggest you to buy a LCD cleaning kit worth RM8. The box is green colour and i think the brand is EXPERT. It comes with a special cloth that removes thumb prints and smudges really effectively.

First time laptop user + noob pc user here... If I were to reformat my lappy, will the backup dvd restore back my win 7 OS or do I need to install it separately?
*
The backup DVD will restore your OS to factory default settings....with a few programs install and some drivers if you talking bout the backup DVD for the N53SN
Alternately u can always use the hidden partition on the harddisk to reformat your laptop to factory default settings. For that i suggest you read the Asus Manual for 1st time users

I have been wondering.... If the laptop is new, shouldn't it be at factory setting when u first bought it?
Why you need to reformat it to the factory setting?

And can anyone tell me how annoying it is if i don reformat it to factory setting?
what are disadvantages?
I mean does the boot up time takes more than 5 minutes?
Does it afffect performance like everything go slower?
Thanks
*
It is set to factory settings with a few added programs. Reformat to factory settings get rids most of them.
And no it does not take 5 mins to boot up. Thats crazy. Only around 2 mins without reformating it and thats not normal. 60 sec is normal

Anyway if u want a more accurate answer.....get the laptop then u will know biggrin.gif

HDD affects the boottime and responsiveness when opening applications...

Normally ppl who get Seagate HDD have slightly slower compared to WD HDD's...

*
and why is that???

Seagate SUCKS! rclxm9.gif cause it failed me twice....

I wanted to but no stock.....
The thing is i wonder is it worth getting because there were these sort of things happen to me where when i buy something, surely there wll be something even more worth it comes out after my purchase

that was what happen last time when i bought my duo core laptop, just shortly after that, core 2 duo came out.... #@#$%^&*
*
Lol, samething also happened to me what. Ex, other ppl got WD HDD and instead I got a slower Seagate HDD doh.gif
Anyway, if your worried then u can go for the Hp Dv6. Until now no reported prob by the users....yet. From what i know HP= Heat Porblems. But also im not sure if that applies for the new DV6.

Well....no laptop is perfect laugh.gif
