Anyone heard of this sink? http://www.rieber.de/en/home/item/watersta...48%2C143%2C139/
Am planning to use it in my home. Together with a KWC Luna faucet.

When they say granite sink, do they mean pure granite, or granite composite? Cos my understanding is granite can withstand high temperatures, but granite composite may not. Something like solid surface, but mixed with granite chips. So supposing I'm cooking, can I directly pour hot oil into the sink?

And will granite sinks have discolourations and staining too? Read some reviews about some granite sinks having hard to clean stains especially the light coloured ones

Granite sink of course is not 100% pure granite but is very close. It can with stand hot temperature of 100 degrees with no problem. It won't have discolourization. But the draw back is, it cannot withstand strong impact. If you have a heavy pot and drop on it very hard it can crack. Other than that I had been using for 3 years and is still like new

So all the so called granite sinks are composite material right? So is it ok to pour hot oil into the sink? Cos hot oil will definitely have a temperature exceeding 100°c so will it deform the composite material? Also, I've heard that the cheaper made in China sinks do not have discolouration, but after some time, they tend to stain with blackish colour which is hard to scrub off. Is that true? Hmmm...easily cracked? Then I think I'm in trouble. Cos the sink I got has a drainer, and I was planning to use the drainer area as a prep surface if I need to. Without support from underneath, putting excessive pressure on the drainer eg:chopping up a whole chicken might damage it. God forbid if it breaks into two!!!

check this out by rieber. the tap same color as the granite. 2.7k i think whole set before nego.

Wow! Looks pretty neat! The place I got my sink didn't offer that. Otherwise I would definitely have gone for this. But I think the KWC Luna should be ok...KWC had some pretty good reviews.

thanks!

I think it might be solid surface sink. You can try looking up the DuPont corian website. They do have this kind of sink. My two cents, I'm not keen on that cos if it stains or breaks (though they claim it hardly happens, but hey, who knows right?) then you gotta change the entire top

Yes china brand is possible to have quality material. The one I bought is Italian brand. Is quite costly but worth the money. Don't chop like chicken on the granite surface, you will regret later. Had a friend who break the surfaces into many pieces.

Ya that's why I got the Rieber sink. Blanco is good too, but I had a better deal with Rieber, so just went ahead with it

Im curious and couldn't find any relevant topic so i shall post here.

How are undermount sinks applied to concrete top without sink cabinets?
*
I'm not a pro, but based on what I observed, the undermount sink sits on a grooved hole in the concrete. Then you just top it up with granite or quartz or solid surface, with an opening for the sink

QUOTE(jam_lennon @ Apr 29 2014, 10:20 PM)
what is the pro & cons of top mount vs under mount sink?
*
Top mount: easy to replace if your sink stains or rusts.

Undermount sink: water is easily swept into the sink as your top will be one smooth surface up to the sink opening. Looks much better too IMHO. But must make sure proper sealant is applied, otherwise will be troublesome if it leaks from the undermounted edges

Please correct me if I'm wrong tongue.gif

they say undermount after certain period of time use then it will sunken, izzit true?
*
Not really. Depends on what kind of sink. I can't say much about granite sinks cos they're so heavy and mine has not been installed. But normal stainless steel ones should not sink if properly installed

It all depends on how you install it. You can have additional supports for an undermount. I'm gonna use Sink Setter for my undermount when I finally get my sink.

What's a sink setter?

But qualify wise is it good?
*
Never used it personally, but I suppose it's a very famous brand for granite sinks

QUOTE(OneMoreDay @ May 5 2014, 02:40 PM)
Basically, it's an adjustable support bracket for undermount sinks. I like it because it give me the option of removing my expensive sink without having to dismantle any cabinet bases.

Wow! That's a cool contraption! Can we use that on cement table tops as we'll? Cos out of budget to do my cabinet tongue.gif planning to put the sink first, then only put the cabinets for the wet kitchen

And btw, where do u get these sink setters? If it can be used on cement tops, I might consider getting one too. It looks a bit flimsy though, to balance so much weight on metal bars. Can it take the weight of granite sinks? Are u planning to use a granite sink?

Hi all, If my condo has already a single unit sink installed into my kitchen cabinet would it be hard to install a double sink?

DO i have to change my whole kitchen top or i can just cut a hole?

Thank for the answers
*
Are the cabinets already built in? If they are, then might not be so easy to change. But if no built in cabinets then yes, just enlarge the hole
